Obituary
Bernard G. DeLine, age 95 (15 days short of 96th birthday), of Raymore, Missouri, died September 8, 2018, at 6:40 pm at Redwood of Raymore, Raymore, Missouri. He was born September 23, 1922, to Gordon E. DeLine & Ethel L. (Gayer) DeLine in Topeka, KS.
He had to left school in the 10th grade. But after his military service, he completed his GED & an AA in Business at KC Junior College. He married Theola Jean McKinney on August 3, 1946 in KCMO. They raised two children, David & Dennis.
Bernard served our country in WWII in the Pacific theatre. After his military service, he was employed by Sears, Montgomery Ward, Westinghouse, GAF, McCraken’s, then after retiring, he owned a used furniture store, Green Street Furniture, in Lee’s Summit for over 15 years. For a number of years he raised beef cattle on his property in Collins, MO.
Bernard enjoyed fishing, Ping-pong (with his nephews), horseshoes, raising cattle, collecting coins/stamps, camping and attending Southern Gospel Singing Conventions/concerts with his wife of 69 ½ years. He and Theola also enjoyed taking missions trips to various parts of the world with his home church, Lee’s Summit Assembly.
Bernard is survived by a son, David B. DeLine of Overland Park, KS; a son, Rev. Dennis DeLine of Archie, MO; a sister, Kathleen Covington of Walker, MO; a sister-in-law, Dorothy Deline, a grandson, David B. DeLine-Jr (Elizebeth) of Guilford,IN, as well as great-grand children, Jaiden, Silas & Tianna DeLine of Guilford,IN, many nieces, nephews & friends.
He was preceded in death by his wife, Theola Jean DeLine, his parents, Gordon & Ethel DeLine, his brother, Jack DeLine, and his sister, Roberta Light.
