Obituary

Marilyn Ann (Giles) Anderson, Lees Summit, MO, formerly of Joplin, MO,
passed away Wednesday, December 2, 2020 at Lees Summit Medical Center.
Marilyn was born July 15, 1955 in Kansas City, MO to John and Dorothy Giles.
She attended St. Mary’s grade school, McAuley High School and graduated
from Parkwood High School in 1973. She had a Bachelor’s Degree from Central
Missouri State University at Warrensburg.
She had a colorful career, working for Texaco in Houston, TX, a funeral
home, a cheese factory, several years as a paralegal, and a legal assistant at an
insurance agency. She was a court reporter for many years. Her proudest accomplishment was her son, John Anderson.
Marilyn was a happy-go-lucky person and could light up a room. She was
an avid horseman, motorcyclist, and water skier. She was an excellent yoga
student. She loved to travel, decorate and garden. Her yard was the envy of the
neighborhood. She loved animals.
Marilyn married Jim R. Anderson in 1984 and they had one son, John Riley
Anderson. She was looking forward to traveling and enjoying the next few years
of life when Jim retired.
She is survived by her husband, Jim of Lees Summit; son, John Anderson,
Seattle, WA; her Mother, Dorothy Giles, Joplin; sister, Patty (Jerry) Pyle of Seneca, brothers Mike Giles, Joplin, and Steve (Liliya) Giles of Joplin. She also has a
nephew, Bryan (Michelle) Pyle, Joplin, and great nephews, Luke & Logan Pyle.
She was preceded in death by her dad, John Giles, February 16, 2020.

You are in our thoughts and prayers, Giles and Anderson families. Marilyn was such a delightful person. She had the most beautiful smile. We always felt loved and welcome in her presence. She will be sorely missed.

I have so many fond memories of Marilyn growing up together. I hope and pray we can cherish and share our memories to help ease us through losing her here. Her passing is certainly a reminder to me of how precious the time we have here is. Jim, I hope you and John know we always welcome you and hope we can at least come close to being as loving and generous and you guys have alway been.

I remember Marilyn and Patty from my early working days at Tiny’s steak house in Joplin, MO. She was such fun and always smiling. I am so sorry for your loss. She will be missed by all who knew her and loved her.
