Obituary

Stephen Lynn Belcher, 69, passed away July 14, 2022 at St. Luke’s East Hospital. Steve was born on July 23, 1952 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri where he has been a life-long resident. He graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1970.  Steve received a degree in Business/Accounting from the University of Missouri in Columbia in 1975. He was a general manager in logistics and warehousing. On August 22, 1978 he married the love of his life, Patricia. He raised Ben Russell, his son. Ben’s wife Alicia and two grandchildren, Ethan and Mia were the joy of his life.

Steve was preceded in death by his mother and father, Gladys and Homer Belcher and his aunts and uncles, J.D. and Vivian Smith and Norman and Eula Owens. He was also preceded in death by his cousin John Owens. Survivors include his wife Patti Belcher, son and wife Ben and Alicia Russell and grandchildren Ethan and Mia Russell. He is also survived by his cousin Rita Owens.

Steve was a devoted father and grandfather. He loved following the KC Chiefs and Missouri Tigers. But mostly he loved watching his grandchildren’s activities and sports. His interests included Nascar, anything tractor related, antique cars and reveling in classic 70’s music. He was a deeply quiet spiritual man. Steve was always kind and willing to lend a hand to friends and family. He was proud of his relationships, both old and new, with all who knew him.

At one time Steve and I were very good friends. We played sandlot football together, hauled hay, partied hearty, grew up inside distribution centers, both became general managers at True Value. Life pushed us apart and we lost touch. But, I never stopped thinking of him and Roger my two best friends.
Deeply sorry for you loss.
Dan Hill

I was sorry to hear of this. I know he will be deeply missed. I did not see this in time to be there, but my prayers are with the family and friends he leaves behind. I was in the class of 1970 and knew him.
