Obituary

Michael Allan Schofield, age 55, of Lee’s Summit, passed away unexpectedly on July 29, 2025.

Michael was born on November 23, 1969, and lived a life full of dedication, love, and quiet strength. He was a devoted husband to Sara Schofield for 24 years and a proud father to Alexis Schofield (Emily), Austin Schofield (Haley), Aidan Schofield (Ava), and Allison Schofield (Brady). His family was the center of his world, and he took great pride in supporting them in every way possible.

Michael will be remembered for his sharp wit, unfiltered humor, and the way he could make anyone laugh with his quick comebacks and off-the-wall observations. He had a charismatic presence that kept everyone on their toes and brought life to every room he entered. Michael had a unique blend of tough love and deep sensitivity—he didn’t sugarcoat things, but you always knew where his heart was. He was driven, high-energy, and always striving to be his best. He took pride in how he presented himself—he liked nice things, and he carried himself with confidence and care. Yet behind the strong exterior was someone deeply thoughtful, who consistently made sacrifices for others and wanted everyone to feel included. He showed up—whether it was cheering from the sidelines, lending a hand, or simply being present. Michael had a way of making people feel seen, valued, and loved, and the impact of his presence will be felt for years to come.

His favorite sayings—“Just listen to me!” or “I guess I’m just talking to myself?!” “Can someone get me a coke?!”—will echo in the memories of those who knew him well.

Michael had many passions: he loved working on cars, watching the Detroit Lions, spending time in his recliner, and above all, loving his family. He also had a deep affection for his dogs—Zeus, Cola, Cruise, Ferdinand, and especially Winnie, who held a special place in his heart.

He was preceded in death by his parents, David and Shirley Schofield.

He is survived by his wife and children; his brother David Schofield and wife Jill; and his in-laws Don and Mary Gann, Brian and Michelle Gann, Lysa Gann and Aaron Horner. Michael’s presence in the lives of his family and friends was a gift, and his absence will be deeply felt.

May each one of Michael’s family near and far, friends and colleagues remember him in their hearts and stories through the days ahead and remember happy times spent with him. I ask God for peace and love for each one of you. With love and condolences,

I worked with Mike for 23 years. We first met at ATI, a company he never stopped loving. In the early days I thought , wow, this guy is a handful, but once I got to know him, he became a guy that I respected. Mike brought his best to work every day, always striving to make it a better place to work for all. His stats were always at the top with our best producers, his customer service was second to none. Mike constantly challenged those around him to improve, be better, care, never holding back, but speaking up when he observed un-safe behavior. Some of Mike’s safety suggestions for drivers are used at United Road today. Sadly Mike’s time was cut short, but we all know that he lived every day to the fullest, loved every day, and challenged us all to be better. My heart goes out to the Schofields, we will all miss this guy….

I am so so sorry. I have known Mike since we were 15 ish. He hung out with our group of friends and my late brother Steve. I am in shock. Sarah please message me if you need anything. Even just someone to talk to.
Regards,
Missy
