Obituary
Aaron Reese passed away on Sunday, May 3, 2026 at the Hospice House in Kansas City, Missouri with his wife, Rachel by his side. Aaron had fought a 7-year battle with cancer.
Aaron was born at Research Medical Center in Kansas City, Missouri on October 12, 1981.
Aaron had a lifelong love of drawing and sketching and continued until the last couple of months of his life. He always considered himself an artist above all else. Aaron wrote, designed, and illustrated comic books that he published digitally.
Aaron enjoyed spending time with his wife and loving his 3 dogs, Bailey, Kaluha and Tessarone. He also enjoyed camping and canoeing with his friends and family.
Aaron met the love of his life, Rachel Steeno while each was attending Columbia College in Columbia, Missouri, on April 5, 2007. The relationship blossomed and they became husband and wife on October 5, 2013. They spent 12 ½ wonderful years together until his passing. One of the highlights of their time together was a trip to Orlando, Florida to visit “The Wizarding World of Harry Potter” in 2018. They were both truly crazy about each other.
One of Aaron’s favorite memories was in 2007 he summited Long’s Peak in Rocky Mountain National Park. It was an arduous 15-hour journey that left him telling his father afterwards, “I’m done hiking this trip.”
Aaron was preceded in death by his paternal grandparents, Albert and Ruth Honn. His maternal grandparents, Darold and Doris Jean Young, his stepmother Cherilyn Reese and his puppy, Bailey.
Aaron is survived by his wife, Rachel Reese of Kansas City, his mother Cherie Reese of Pleasant Hill, his father Stephen Reese Sr, of Lee’s Summit, his older brother, Stephen Jr. of Pleasant Hill, and his adorable dogs, Tessarone and Kaluha.

I’ve have good memories of Aaron’s visit to Arkansas with Rachel (my niece) to float one of our great rivers and having Thanksgiving with them in Columbia in 2018. He was always a gentleman and thanked me for my hospitality every time I saw him. I’ll will miss seeing him with Rachel by his side.
Prayers that heaven will open its arms to you as you grieve for Aaron.
May God’s love fill you with light through this darkness.
My deepest sympathy!

I worked with Aaron on a project for BBB and he was amazing and funny. Our group had a good time and got the work done. My heart goes out to his wife and family, a good soul has been lost. I hope the memories help to ease the pain!
I am saddened to hear of his passing, and I want to extend my heartfelt condolences to you, his family, friends, and colleagues.
Although we worked in different BBB offices, he had a meaningful impact on me early in my career. He generously shared his wisdom, training, and ideas, and helped shape the way I approached investigations and advertising reviews. I am grateful for the time he took to guide me, answer questions, and offer insight that stayed with me throughout my work.
While I had not worked with him in recent years, I have always remembered the role he played in helping me grow professionally. His kindness, knowledge, and willingness to support others made a lasting difference.
