Obituary

Alfred Monahan was born on July 7, 1939, in Council Bluffs, Iowa, to Miles and Hazel Monahan. He passed away on Friday, March 8, 2024, at KC Hospice with his family by his side.

A devoted husband and father, Alfred spent his retirement surrounded by his family celebrating special events, attending his grandchildren’s school, and sporting events, and helping out with big and small home construction projects.

Alfred was an avid football fan and enjoyed watching the Kansas City Chiefs, the Nebraska Cornhuskers, and Ohio State Buckeyes. He also enjoyed playing pool at Lee’s Summit Recreation Center and bowling in a league with his friends.

Alfred leaves behind his wife of 57 years, Caretta Monahan, son, Michael Monahan and daughter-in-law Suzanne Monahan, son Joe Monahan and daughter-in-law Jeni Monahan, daughter Kelly Morgan and son-in-law Greg Morgan, grandson Gaige Monahan (and wife, Katie), grandson Andy Morgan (and wife Ali), granddaughter Rachel Monahan, grandson’s Davin and Foster Monahan, and siblings Harriet Jones and Lyle Monahan.

Funeral Services will be held on Friday, March 15, 2024, at Langsford Funeral Home at 11:00 a.m. Visitation will be held at 10:00 a.m. Interment will be at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens.
