Alice Fae Boortz
Alice Boortz was a loving mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister and friend. Her family is sad to share that she passed away unexpectedly on Monday, November 14th, 2022, at the age of 84 in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Alice was fiercely independent and smart as a whip. While she wielded a strong personality, she also had a very sentimental side and would cry tears of joy or sadness at even the most minor of occasions. She was tenacious and resilient, surviving both a brain aneurism and a triple bypass to live many more years, happy, healthy, and self-determined.
She worked as a bookkeeper for many companies, most recently Bill Wiley Homes. In retirement, Alice enjoyed family events, cheering on (and sometimes yelling at) the Chief’s, and snuggling the latest great-grandbaby in the family. Alice cherished the dogs in her life and spoiled them all terribly. Bailey is her latest, and she, like her family, her neighbors, and her church community, will miss her terribly.
Alice was a regular attendee of the Lee’s Summit Community Church and was often moved to tears with each worship song. Her faith was important to her, and she volunteered to help as she could.
Alice is survived by her brother Donnie, her three children, Steve, Shari, and Jeff, her seven grandchildren, Britney, Mickey, Christian, Ali, Lola, Gabe, and Nola, and her seven great-grandchildren, Cora, Asher, Rigby, Chloe, Sophia, Michael, and Elijah.
A memorial service will be held Saturday, November 19th, 2022 at 11:00am at Lee’s Summit Community Church, 1440 SW Jefferson Street, Lee’s Summit, MO 64081. In lieu of flowers, her family asks those interested in honoring her memory to make a donation in Alice’s name to Wayside Waifs, a favorite charity of hers.
