Obituary

Alice M. Young, 94 of Independence, MO passed away Feb. 4, 2021.  Funeral services will be 11:00AM Thursday February 11, 2021 at Langsford Funeral Home.  Visitation will be prior to services from 9:00AM – 11:00AM at the funeral home.  Burial will follow at the Lee’s Summit Cemetery.

Alice Young was born June 12, 1926 in Rule Arkansas. Alice was raised in Arkansas. She lived with her parents and five siblings. The family moved in 1942 to Lee’s Summit, MO.
Alice was married to Everett Young for three years. After his death she married Van Young and remained his wife until his death in 2002.
She nursed, in her younger years, then became a full-time wife and mother and then she was a custodian in her pre-retirement years. Her Hobbies included gardening, camping, reading and cooking for her family. She was a member of Raytown Assembly Of God Church for 50 plus years. She worked in several different areas of her church, from teaching Sunday School, to Women’s Ministries, and even cleaning the church for several years.
Alice loved and cared for family and friends alike through the years. But Her Greatest Love was for her Lord. She loved studying her Bible and praying, thanking, and praising and worshipping Jesus.

She was preceded in death by her first husband, Everett B. Young, her second husband, Van Young, Sr., and her firstborn son, Roy G. Young.
Survivors include two daughters, Eva B. Young, Kandi G. Ivy and two sons, Van H. Young, Jr., Nathan W. Young. Four grandchildren, Melinda G. Shaffer, Joseph R. Ivy, Destiny N. LeGrand and Dakota V.N. Young. Four great-grandchildren, Jonathan, Isaac, Noah and Xavier. One great great grandchild, Jacqueline and one sister, Arlene Sweet.
