Obituary
Our beloved parents passed away after 63 years of marriage in Belton, Missouri. Barbara Ann Rodgers (84) born October 10, 1937 in Sioux City Iowa passed away on July 11, 2022. Jack Russell Rodgers (85) born October 18, 1936 in Sioux City Iowa passed away one day later on July 12, 2022. Both passed due to natural causes.
Jack graduated from Morningside College in Sioux City, Iowa in 1957, immediately going to work for JC Penney’s. He was a devoted husband, loving father and retail store manager spending his career with JC Penney’s and Dillard’s Department Stores. Jack loved serving at the church, woodworking, and model train rail roading.
Barbara graduated from Central High School in Sioux City Iowa and was a devoted wife, loving mother, and homemaker. When not raising her children, she spent her time singing in the church choir, participating in several card clubs, and painting holiday gifts
Jack and Barbara lived long full lives leaving many great memories for family and friends. They especially enjoyed spending time with their grandkids and attending their sporting events and activities.
They were preceded in death by their parents and son James Rodgers. They are survived by their two sons Steven Rodgers (Carrie) and Christopher Rodgers (Barbara), and Lynn Rodgers (Daughter-in-law) and 10 grandchildren, Ashlinn, Morgann, Nick, Mitchell, Christopher, Amanda, Joshua, Mackenzie,Tyler, Ben, and 1 great-grandchild, Jaxson James. Barbara is survived also by her two sisters, Ann Dyer and Marylin Winter.
A visitation will be held on July 23, 2022 at 1:00 pm at Lee’s Summit Community Church followed by a memorial service at 2:30 pm at the church.
Donations may be made to Show Me Christian Youth Home, LaMonte Missouri in lieu of flowers.
