Obituary
Barbara Lynne Rice, 75, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on June 24th after living a life full of memories and moments shared with family.
Barbara was born on April 25th, 1950, to George A. Schlosser Jr. and Eleanor H. Schlosser in Kansas City, KS. After graduating from LS High School in 1968, she went on to study nursing to become a LPN and worked most of her career at Lee’s Summit Clinic. Later into her years of nursing, she loved becoming a hospice nurse and always helping others
She spent the last 54 years with her beloved spouse, Douglas Rice, traveling many years to Branson and making lifelong memories together. Her love for music was loudly played all the time on her favorite record player, spending many nights sewing crafts and her beautiful quilts that she always gifted. The love in her heart was felt by everyone she knew and will live on forever in honor of her memory. Always and forever, our Nanny, we love you.
She is survived by her husband, Douglas Rice; her daughter, Tiffini Rice; her grandchildren, Mallory Hainley, Dawson Darby, and Braydon Darby; her great-granddaughters, Adilyn Cates and Sylvie Morgan; her sister, Karen Holman of Sedalia, MO; her niece, Christy Fernando; and her nephew, Curt Holman.

Thoughts and prayers to Doug & family. Barbara & I were good friends in high school & kept in touch. Will miss her terribly. ❤️
I am so sad at Barbs passing. Rip Barb. I will be unable Lee to attend her funeral but know Ill be thinking of her.
Doug, so sorry for your loss. You and your family will be in my thoughts and prayers.
Barb, what can I say? We had a lot in common, a great friendship, I’ll miss our chats. And especially you. You made a difference in my life.
I just heard about Barb passing. My sincere condolences to you Doug and all the family. I was just talking to my sister over the weekend about spending a week in the summers with Barb in Grain Valley and then Lees Summit and driving around with the windows down playing the Beach Boys as loud as it would go. Rest in peace Barb.
In this picture of Barb she looks as young as ever. Always young at heart. We cousins used to have lots of fun when we got together holidays and in the summers. Living in another state I haven’t seen relatives as much as I used to. She and Doug had a special bond and a good life together.
Barb and I were close for many years in school, and it has been many years since our paths have crossed, but I think of her often with very fond memories of her and her mom Ellen. I am so very sad for Doug and her family as I know this is a very great loss. My thoughts and prayers to all of you.
I met Ms. Barbara some years ago as her tax preparer. I looked forward to our yearly calls and conversations. She was such a sweet and interesting lady. Anytime something came in the mail she needed information on she always called me whether it was about taxes or not. I will miss those random calls. Rest in heaven Ms. Barbara. I know that’s where you are, and watch over us all.
