Obituary
Barbara Sue Kelly, lovingly known as Susie or Barb, passed away peacefully on September 26, 2025, at the age of 83. Born August 7, 1942, in Kansas City, Missouri, to Dean and Darlena Penticuff, Barbara was a beloved daughter, sister, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother.
She is preceded in death by her parents, her brother Tommy Dean, and her great-granddaughter Ryleigh Sue Moore.
Barbara grew up in Kansas City and graduated from Northeast High School in 1960. While attending high school, she also participated in additional schooling at the Missouri School for the Blind in St. Louis, showing the determination and drive that would define her life. Barbara’s greatest joy in life was her family.
She is survived by her children, Michael Kelly (Charlotte) and Kathy Barnes (JC), and her grandchildren Rachelle Moore (Austin), Ryan Kelly (Kelsey), Jeremy Barnes, and Joshua Barnes. She also leaves behind bonus grandchildren Jake Bottom and Cierra Register (Brian), five great-grandchildren, and three bonus great-grandchildren, all of whom she adored beyond measure.
Barbara spent over 40 years working as a file clerk at BMA (now SCORR) before retiring to fully embrace her favorite role — being “Granny.” She was a constant presence at sporting events, school activities, and family gatherings, always ready to cheer, host, and celebrate the ones she loved. Her home was the heart of the family, where countless slumber parties and weekends together created memories that will be cherished forever.
Barbara’s love, laughter, and unwavering support will be deeply missed by all who knew her.
Per her wishes, no formal services will be held. The family will lay her to rest privately.
Thoughts and prayers for your family. She is at rest now. 🙏❤️
I am the elder daughter of Jack and Pat (Trickie) Guest. My mother, Pat, is one of Stella and Vic Paul’s children. Thus, my mother was a first cousin to Barbara Sue. I am very sorry to hear of Barbara Sue’s passing. It was always a pleasure to be with her. She was very kind and sweet. She always came to bridal and baby showers for various family members. ‘Love and blessings to all of her family.
