Obituary

Billie Jean Caffey went to be with the Lord February 11, 2018. Visitation will be held at Langsford Funeral Home, Lee’s Summit, MO, Thursday, February 15 from 6-8pm. Services will be held at First Baptist, 2nd and Douglas, Lee’s Summit, MO 64063, Friday, February 16, 2018 at 10am. Interment with follow at Longview Memorial Gardens, 12700 South Raytown Rd, KCMO 64149.

Billie Jean (Rutler) Caffey was born May 13, 1932 in KCMO. She graduated from Center High School in 1950. She had several interests in her life, one being an avid volunteer for the America Legion Auxiliary Fifth District Dept. of Missouri. She served in many aspects of this organization such as past President of Fifth District Unit 332 1967-1968, and many committees. This group helps young ladies with scholarships, grants, Girls State, and Girls Nation, sharing our patriotic pride to the next generation. Billie worked countless hours in Lee’s Summit hospital and in soup kitchens on Paseo. In her professional life, Billie was a medical assistant to many doctors. She loved her job. Billie’s biggest love was her family, she loved them dearly; ballroom dancing; and helping/serving people. Billie will be missed by the many who knew her. She was a wonderful and caring lady.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Don Caffey; son, Larry Caffey; parents, Joseph and Clara Rutler; and sister, Betty Donley. She is survived by her son, Stephen Joe (Marjory) Caffey; sister, Bennie (Joe) Hanebrink; granddaughter, Tammy (Mark) Osborn; 4 great-grandchildren, Bryan, Courtney, Samantha, and Joshua Osborn; a host of nieces and nephews; and many friends.
