Brandon Nye Reed, July 27, 1936, to December 22, 2023

Brandon Nye Reed, age 87, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on December 22, 2023. Brandon was born July 27, 1936, in Blockton, Iowa, and grew up in Great Bend, Kansas. After graduating from high school, Brandon enlisted in the United States Army, serving from 1956 to 1959, where he began his career in electronics. Brandon continued his interest in electrical engineering at the University of Kansas, where he graduated in 1963 with a bachelor’s degree, later earning his master’s in 1970. It was here that he met Carol Barger, who would become his wife for 61 years. Brandon began his career at Wilcox Electric where he worked until he retired in 2001, except for a two-year adventure with the startup Edwards Electronics in Memphis, TN.

Brandon was a member of the American Legion post 189 in Lee’s Summit, MO, and a member of Scottish Rite Belton-Grandview Lodge #450.

Brandon is survived by his wife, Carol; two children, Dorothy Cox (Thomas) and Daniel Reed (Pamela); four grandchildren, Cassandra Pierce (Andrew), Michael Cox, Rachel Reed, and Jacob Reed; and one great-grandchild, James Pierce.

In lieu of flowers, the family would like donations to the John Knox Foundation Veterans Memorial Fund.

The memorial service will be Friday, May 17, at 10:00 a.m. at the John Knox Chapel in Lee’s Summit. Burial will be at 1:00 p.m. at Missouri State Veterans Cemetery in Higginsville, MO
