Obituary
Breck David Baker, 37, was born in Mason City, Iowa on January 16, 1987 and lived there until he was 5. He spent most of his life in Lee’s Summit, Missouri until he departed from us on August 20, 2024 where he was surrounded by his family, friends, and loved ones.
Breck was a 2005 Lee’s Summit High School graduate. He went to Northwest Missouri State University where he graduated with honors and earned a Bachelors Degree double majoring in Marketing and Business.
Breck worked for Freight Quote right out of college until he started BHS Restoration with his partner Justin Scheidt in 2017. He went on to successfully buy, renovate, and sell property for his full-time job.
He was preceded in death by his step-father Rich Hoversten. He is survived by his mother Tami Briggs, sister Sydni Lewis, “Granny” Darlene Geary, “Pops” Eldon Geary, Miki Mahnke, Tony Geary, Gilbert and many other family, friends, and loved ones.
Breck leaves his family, friends, and loved ones behind with a memory full of laughter. While Breck was the life of many parties throughout his life, he never wanted the spot light. He cared more about his family, friends, and his dog(s) than he did himself. Breck was a die-hard Kansas City Chiefs fan. He enjoyed nothing more than going to the Chiefs game with his friends and family including partner in crime “Pops” (Breck’s grandpa). During the last 3-4 years of his life, Breck found a new passion in coaching youth sports with his friends. He coached basketball, and flag football but he really loved baseball. A couple of months before Breck passed away, he helped lead the group of 10 year-olds he coached to the Missouri State Championship.
Above all else though, Breck was a mama’s boy at heart. He leaves his mom, Tami, with 37 years of memories full of joy, laughter, and love. Not only was she Breck’s mom, but Tami was his workout partner, his running buddy, and shared Chiefs season tickets with him too.
Visitation will be held at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO on Friday August 30 at 1pm. Funeral service will follow immediately after at 3pm. His friend, Preston Land will officiate the service. Honorary pallbearers are Tony Geary, Joe Flanner, Jesse Feira, Justin Scheidt, Zack Brown, Cody Conard, and Preston Land.

So sorry for your loss. Breck was one of a kind! Many many great memories involving Breck. I met him when he was 13 years old. Almost every single memory I have of Breck revolves around laughter. He was extremely funny and very witty. I will miss him very much. We all will…..Rest in peace Breck
Breck, it breaks my heart to write this. We had so many good times and experiences over the past years that we will never forget. I can hear your belly laugh – or even see your text “hahahaha’ – at some stupid joke I have made 100 times before like you were sitting next to me. I looked at so many of our pics and somehow you were smiling in all of them. Why did we think “Smiley” never smiled lol? I truly hope you are resting peacefully and smiling down at the boys for eternity. Condolences to the entire family. Breck you will never be forgotten. Rest in Peace good buddy

I’m so very sorry for your loss. Breck was a fun loving guy, one of Preston’s best friends. He was at my home throughout the years I think about as much as Preston. Always kind and polite. He is missed. Hugs to you all. Prayers for the family!

Our family is heartbroken to hear of Breck’s passing. He was such a nice young man. We would see him often when he would come back to Iowa to visit his dad- Dave, Patti and his sisters Emily, Ellie and Erica.
Keeping his family and friends in our prayers and hearts at this sad time.
