Obituary
Carol Cameron “Cam” Meers, 58, of Lake Winnebago, MO went home to be with her Lord and Savior Jesus Christ on May 31, 2025.
Cam was born December 26, 1966, to James Albert and Nancy Kay Cochran in Memphis, TN. Her family moved to the Kansas City area in 1970, and most of Cam’s childhood was spent in Olathe, KS. She graduated from Olathe South High School and went on to pursue her undergraduate degree in Psychology at William Jewell College. On June 12, 1993, Dan Meers pulled off one of the greatest sales jobs ever when he convinced Cam to walk down the aisle at Pleasant Valley Baptist Church and say, “I do”. Together they built a wonderful life filled with faith, love, and laughter. Cam and Dan were blessed with three amazing kids: Mycah, Aaron, and Mallory.
Cam loved being a mother and stayed home with her kids during their childhood. Cam had a passion for helping others and after all her kids were in school, she also went back to school and received her master’s degree in Marriage and Family Therapy at Friends University. Guided by her deep faith in Jesus, she exemplified His love to others through her 15-year counseling career—offering hope, healing, and grace that left a lasting mark on the lives of many. Cam was active in her church community and was involved in several small groups over the years, where she met some of her dearest friends. Cam’s life was a testament to love and service. Her desire was to share with others the love, joy, peace and hope that she had found in Jesus. Her generous spirit and deep, unwavering love impacted many lives, especially her family. More than anything, Cam’s greatest hope was for her children to walk with Jesus – and because of her faithful example, they do.
Cam was loved by many and will be deeply missed by all who knew her. Cam was preceded in death by her father James Cochran. She is survived by her husband Dan, and children Mycah Norwine (Brendan), Aaron Meers (Kyndal), and Mallory Meers, along with two wonderful grandchildren, Noah Meers and Jovie Norwine. Cam is also survived by her mother, Nancy Cochran and two sisters, Kristen Bonafide (Jim) and Kerry Knepper (Tom) along with 15 nieces and nephews.

Please accept my heartfelt condolences. I had the privilege of knowing Carol during our junior high and high school years in Olathe, Kansas, where her kindness, thoughtfulness, and genuine friendship left a lasting impression on me. She was a truly remarkable person, always bringing warmth and care to those around her. I am deeply saddened by her loss but take comfort in seeing the beautiful, loving family she leaves behind.
Dan,
I remember the time we meet and you and you hadn’t work long for the KC Chiefs when you were going to propose. I remember you sharing your idea of using the Wolf in your wedding, but Cam found out and that was the end of that Idea. I then remember you two getting married, and then the kids coming along. I remember how she shared you with us as a family, and at school assemblies and Church Camps and VBS. She was the Best thing that happen in your life besides the Lord. Just wanted to say Janell and I as well as Nathan and Stephen and Tori and Breanna and their Families are praying for you and your family. We Love you guys. Not a Day goes by that I don’t think of you guys and am reminded from a picture with you from the Raiders and Chiefs game several years ago. You and Cam have always been part of our family since the day we met you in Chautauqua, Ks. Our door is always open for you to come and visit and get away. Your Friends in Christ Dale and Janell Thorne
I enjoyed working with Cam and was saddened to hear of her passing. She was truly an amazing woman. Prayers for the family.
Cam impacted my life in so many ways- from her kind spirit, to her wisdom and love of life. She was a warrior and loved her family and friends fiercely. She will be greatly missed and my heartfelt prayers for all of her family and friends.
John 14:27: Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you.
Please know I am so very sorry. Cam was so special to me. Not only did we go thru grad school together, we opened our practice together and have remained close friends for so long. I was truly blessed to call her friend. Cam was so giving and kind and was such a sweet soul to share life’s journeys with. She loved her family so deeply, loved Jesus with everything she had and loved life. Dan, Mycah, Mallory and Aaron, I am so very very sorry for your loss.

We will be praying for Dan and your family as we know Cam will be deeply missed by all and this has got to be so difficult. We rejoice that she is with Jesus.
Cam was a wonderful lady! She was also an amazing Marriage and Family Therapist. Cam and I had a professional relationship. For a short time, I officed with her in her Lee’s Summit office. Cam loved her Savior, Her husband, her children, her friends, her family and her colleagues so well. Cam, you will be missed so much by all of us. What a wonderful legacy you have left.
Hey Dan,
It’s Hana Yocom from Arrowhead. I’m sorry about your wife. She must’ve been an excellent woman for her to have married you. Prayers to you.

My deepest sympathy to the family. My daughter Kyra (Barbieri) and Cam were cheerleaders through Junior High and High School Olathe South. She was always a delight. I am so very sorry to hear of Can’s passing. She was my counselor and taught me how to be strong and stand up for myself. She was the nicest person but could be firm when needed…but always nice. She shared her love of God with me which helped me weather my own personal faith crisis. Please know that you and your family are in my heartfelt thoughts and prayers.
So sorry to hear of Cam’s passing.

I was Carol’s Jr High Band director and I worked with her amazing father teaching band. I talked with Carol at her father’s funeral. She was a beautiful soul. My prayers go to your beautiful family.
Dear Dan,
We are very sorry for your loss. Mary and I were the husband/wife photographer team at your wedding. We remember how you both were so wonderful to be around, in one of the most important times of your lives. We remember with fondness, that Cam was not going to let the wolf get in front of your special day. We wish you and your family, all of God’s love and strength, in your time of need.
Super sorry for your loss glad she is in a better place 😇😇😇😇😇❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Dan, I’m so sorry to learn of your loss of Cam, but also of her dad, Jim. He was one of our band instructors at Black Bob Elementary in Olathe, where you appeared as KC WOLF a number of times. They were both good and faithful servants, and we know they are rejoicing in God’s presence now! May your heart be greatly comforted by our Jesus and our Comforter Spirit as you walk through these days. I am certain He has carried you all the way, and will continue to do so. Shalom.
Cam Sam and Debbie Chard will miss you dearly thank you for being a part off our life prayers and hugs go out to cam’s husband children and grand children and mom may God and Angeles be with you all .
I worked with Cam for a short time at Cigna HealthCare in 1993 or 1994. We were instant friends, and the light of Jesus shone from her life so sweetly. We did not work together very long, but she made a huge impact on my life, that I still remember after 30 years. She was such a beautiful person, inside and out. I was inspired to name my daughter, Camryn Paige, because of how lovely I thought Cam was and I thought her name was equally lovely. My prayers go up for the Meers family during this time of great loss. I look forward to seeing Cam again in Heaven, and meeting all of you there. Thank you, Cam, for your kindness. You probably wouldn’t even remember me, but I will never forget you.
I just found out about Cams passing. I am truly deeply saddened. She was an amazing person and counselor. It was a God moment when my husband and I found her for marriage counseling. We would have divorced without her guidance.
I cannot put into words how much she meant to us. I am so sorry for your loss
I saw Cam a handful of times as a client/patient. She was wonderful to talk to. So down-to-earth and personable. I’m so sorry for the loss for this family, friends and anyone else who was lucky to have met her.

Dear Dan and Family, I am so sorry to hear about Cam’s passing. I had the honor of getting to know Cam professionally, practicing in the same office for a season. What an amazing woman! I found her wise, kind, passionate and gifted. She loved her family and Christ dearly, and she exuded Christ’s love and wisdom to all she influenced and helped. I pray that you are comforted with peace and faith, knowing that Cam is with our Heavenly Father, and her love is forever in your hearts and so many that she touched through her life.

I worked with Cam way back in the day for an employee benefits consulting firm. Just learning of he passing is a shock. She was sweet, firm and certainly a force to be reckoned with in her wonderfully perfect way. She certainly will be missed.
I am saddened by Carol‘s untimely passing. We were high school classmates and cheerleading/yell-leading partners. As others have said, Carol was a kind caring person and I really enjoyed knowing her. Her life made a positive impact on mine and I’m sad to have to say goodbye for now. See you on the other side Carol.

I’m so sad to hear my high school friend has left this earth leaving behind her family. But I know she is dancing with her Savior. Carol came to the Lord after high school and never turned back.
May God bless her family.
