Obituary
Carol Curtright Sievers, 94, of Lee’s Summit, passed away on Friday, July 25, 2025, at John Knox Village Care Center. Carol was born on September 22, 1930, to Omer and Ruby (Mull) Curtright in Paris, MO. She graduated from Paris High School in 1948 and later earned a master’s degree in Elementary Education. While growing up in Paris, Carol was active in many organizations including the high school band, glee club and school theater. She was even crowned Little Miss Paris at the age of three.
Carol was united in marriage to Neale Sievers on September 23, 1950. They shared 30 years of marriage until Neale’s death in 1980. While both worked as educators, they still found time to travel, garden and devote the many hours necessary to keep up with the activities of their three boys. Carol made sure the house was in order, beds were made, meals were prepared, and clothes and faces were always clean. She would have been a great general manager for any sports team. After Neale passed, Carol spent the next 45 years mentoring the family and making sure that even without her husband the family traditions continued.
She started her career in a one-room schoolhouse and later taught at Lee’s Summit Elementary and Meadow Lane Elementary for over 25 years before retiring in 1991. Former students often greeted Carol years after her retirement and shared their gratitude for her positive influence. Carol also developed long-lasting friendships with her fellow educators that resulted in lifetime travel companions, afternoon card games or mahjong and evenings of wine tastings discussing current events.
Carol had a special affection for cats, caring for numerous rescue cats over the years. She contributed to local animal shelters and with the passing of each cat was always ready to adopt another.
Carol was a member of the First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit.
The family wishes to express their gratitude to the team at John Knox Village Care Center for the comfort and compassion they provided to Mom in her final years.
Carol will be deeply missed by her family and friends.
Carol is survived by her children: Michael Sievers (Patty), John Sievers (Terri), and Mark Sievers (Carla); Six Grandchildren: Michelle (Derek) Folk, Jim (Hannah) Sievers, David Sievers, John (Caroline) Sievers, Makenna (Warner) Eidman and Jordan Sievers; Five Great Grandchildren: Charlotte, Jack, Bayleigh, Asher and Daxton.
Services will be at Langsford Funeral Home on Thursday, July 31, with visitation at 6pm followed by a memorial service at 7pm. A graveside service will be held at noon on Friday, August 1, at Walnut Grove Cemetery in Paris, MO.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests contributions to the First Presbyterian Church of Lee’s Summit, MO or the First Christian Church of Paris, MO.

A beautiful lady who lived a good life, served her Lord and will be remembered and missed by all who knew and loved her🙏❤️.
I am so very sorry, sending love to your family. She was my elementary school teacher and I still talk about her each school year, as I tell my students about the lovely teachers I had. She was beyond gracious and kind.
I have many fond memories of Carol Jane, especially when we were children in Paris, MO.
My heartfelt condolences to her family.
My deepest sympathies to the family. I was Carol’s Hospice volunteer for eight months. I looked forward to my weekly visits with Carol; she was such a joy. I loved the stories she shared, primarily from her growing up days in Paris to her career years. I will miss Carol’s sweet nature and the visits we had for all those months.
