Obituary
Carol Mela, a devoted wife and loving mother, peacefully entered the presence of her Lord on March 9, 2026.
Guided by her Christian faith, Carol dedicated her life to her family. She was the cherished wife of Jim Mela, with whom she built a life rooted in love and devotion. As a mother, she poured her spirit into her children: her son, Todd Mela, and her twin daughters, Tarah Hawkins and Tracee Cobb. Her legacy lives on through the values she instilled in them.
Family and friends are invited to honor Carol’s life at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit Missouri. Visitation will be held on Monday, March 16th, from 6:00 PM to 8:00 PM. The funeral service will take place on Tuesday, March 17th, at 10:00 AM.

I am so very sorry for your loss, Jim. Peace be with you and yours.
Jim we are so sorry for you and family.
I am so sorry for your family’s loss. I have so many wonderful memories from the Mela household at Oak Tree Farm. She was a beautiful, caring, and loving person, and she will be deeply missed.
I was blessed to know Carol for over 20 years as a fellow antiques enthusiast with booths at Greenwood Vinyage Market (formerly Greenwood Antiques). She was a joy to work with and loved to chat about her beloved family, her Florida Condo and her precious dog! I know her deep Faith helped guide her through her recent health issues. We’ve missed her at the Shop.
Carol, tell Pauline, Hi, from me. We miss her and her delicious fudge, and I cherish Pauline’s swan made from a telephone pole.
Peace and Blessings to her dear Family and countless Friends. Love, Laurie

May the Lord bless you with peace and comfort at this time, and always, and may Carol’s beautiul smile, warmth and love shine brightly in your hearts. While I was saddened to hear of her passing, I am encouraged to read that her faith was strong. If you’re ever in Park City, UT, please look me up, Jim. Fondly, John
My mom and Carol were best of friends through high school and up through their 50’s. Carol hosted many of our family holiday traditions. I babysat the kids for many years while I was in grade school and junior high. I even traveled with them on occasion. I enjoyed all the moments of laughter and storytelling when everyone was together. She had strong faith and she had great love for her family. I was always inspired by her grace, beauty and her design aesthetic. Love and peace to you all.
Jim,
Our condolences to you and your family.
