Obituary for Carrie Holzer Landtiser

Carrie Holzer Landtiser, age 96, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away peacefully on September 29, 2024, at University Health-Lakewood.

Visitation will be held at 10:00 AM, followed by a service at 11:00 AM on October 7, 2024, at Our Lady of the Presentation, located at 130 NW Murry Road, Lee’s Summit, MO 640681. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Our Lady of the Presentation Catholic Church. Arrangements have been made by Langsford Funeral Home.

Carrie was born on June 24, 1928, in Taos, Missouri, to the late Henry and Leona Heimericks Talken. On March 24, 1949, she was united in marriage to Vincent Holzer, who preceded her in death on May 24, 1976. She later married Richard Landtiser in 1992, who also preceded her in death in 2004.

Carrie retired in 1992 from Cartwright Vanlines, after which she and Richard enjoyed traveling together. She dedicated her time to volunteering at Shawnee Mission Medical Center alongside her husband. After relocating to Lee’s Summit, she filled her calendar with bridge games, church activities, and gatherings with family and friends. Even after her husband’s passing, Carrie maintained a full agenda that often required family to schedule their visits. She remained independent in her own home until three months before her passing.

In addition to her parents and spouses, Carrie was preceded in death by her son, Kevin Holzer (Annette); three brothers, Omar, Jerome, and Gilbert Talken; and two sisters, Georgia Rudroff and Maxelinda Reinkemeyer-Cleveland.

Carrie is survived by her three children: Leon Holzer (Frances) of  Kansas City, Missouri; Donna Keller (Stuart) of Kearney, Missouri; and Chester Holzer (Venita) of Freeman, Missouri. She is also survived by nine grandchildren: Angela Mooy, Jonathan Holzer, Aaron Keller, Kimberly Keller, Vincent Holzer, Tara Holzer-Nockel, Shawn Holzer, and Shane Holzer; ten great-grandchildren; and one great-great-grandchild on the way. Carrie is also survived by her siblings: Stanley (Vicki) Talken of Lake Zurich, Illinois; Frances Talken of Troy, Missouri; Barbara (Larry) Poetker of Jefferson City, Missouri; Catherine (Gene) Andres of Portland, Oregon; and Bernard (Alberta) Talken of Garden City, Missouri.

Pallbearers will include Shawn Holzer, Shane Holzer, Vincent Holzer, Christian Holzer, Jonathan Holzer, and Shawn Holzer Jr.

Carrie will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, her love for family and friends, and her unwavering independence. She touched the lives of many and will be greatly missed.
