Obituary

Catherine (Kate) Norton, 93, passed away peacefully on September 14, 2020 in the presence of family at St Luke’s Hospice House in Kansas City.

A private Mass will be held at St. Margret’s Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit, Mo on Thursday, September 17 at 11 am. Entombment to follow at Mt. Olivet Cemetery, KCMO. There will also be a Visitation at the church at 10 am before services.

Kate was born February 26, 1927 in KCMO, the youngest of 9 children born to Stephen and Anna Werkowitch. She married Marcel Norton in 1948 and had 3 children, Pat, Rick and Steve. She lived in the area her entire life, moving to Our Lady of Mercy Country House in early 2019. Kate was a kind and loving person, a friend to many and kind to all. She enjoyed cooking, playing bridge and most of all, spending time with and caring for her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.

Kate was preceded in death by her husband Marcel in 2002 and son Steve in 2012. Survivors include daughter Pat Misner; husband Carl of Parkville: son, Rick Norton; wife Marlene of Lee’s Summit: 3 grandchildren and 7 great grandchildren.

The family would like to thank St Luke’s Hospice House and Our Lady of Mercy Country Home for the compassion and loving care given to Kate during her illness. In lieu of flowers, the family requests contributions to Our Lady of Mercy County Home in Liberty, Mo.
