Obituary

Charles Samuel “Charlie” Rhoades, age 76, Lee’s Summit, Missouri was promoted to Heaven on Monday January 7, 2019. Visitation will be held from 1-2 pm at the Langsford Funeral Home in Lees Summit, Missouri. Graveside services will be held at 2:30 pm in the Greenwood Cemetery in Greenwood, Missouri.

Charlie was born January 30th, 1942 to Charles H and Meta Dee (Graenser) Rhoades. He was married to Elda Bartlett on November 29th, 1963 in Gallatin, Missouri. In his younger days, Charlie loved bull riding, and in 1969 he won a local bull riding championship in Butler, Missouri. Charlie was a concrete finisher and owned CSR Construction from 1969 until retirement in 2005. Charlie turned his life over to the Lord in 1973. Charlie enjoyed playing guitar, singing, fishing, deer hunting and his “groceries”, but above all he enjoyed spending time with his family. He especially cherished his two great-grandsons. Charlie was a patriotic man who loved his country.

Charlie was preceded in death by his parents, and brother, Richard Rhoades.

Charlie is survived by his wife of 55 years, Elda Rhoades of the home; his son Sam Rhoades, Lee’s Summit; his daughter Robin Heck (Doug Bradford), Greenwood, Mo; two granddaughters Raven (Marc) Heninger, Lee’s Summit, Mo; Rayce Heck, Greenwood, Mo; two great-grandsons, Jaxon and Dustin Heninger; three sisters, JoAnn (Chuck) Lyon, Wheatland, Mo; Ginger Bartlett, Harrisonville, Mo; Roxie (John) Byrne, Chandler, AZ; one sister-in-law, Donna Rhoades, Lees Summit, Mo; and many nieces, nephews, family, and friends.

In Lieu of flowers, the family is requesting contributions be made to the FARE food allergy research foundation. The family would like to thank KC Hospice and Palliative Care for their outstanding care. The family sends a special thank you to Stephanie Poland Turner for her exceptional love, dedication, and care to Charlie and family in his final days.
