Obituary
Charles “Chip” Emerson Jarrett, Jr
11/28/1973 – 5/12/2025
Charles was born to Linda Grace Jarrett and Charles Emerson Jarrett, Sr on November 28, 1973 in Boosier City, Louisiana. He was raised in Louisiana and Mississippi in his early years before moving with his family to Belton, Missouri in 1983, where his father was employed at Richards Gebaur Air Force Base. Chip (as he was known by family and friends) was a happy and energetic child who was involved in several sports, though he had a particular love of baseball. Chip played baseball throughout high school and was a catcher for the Belton High School baseball team prior to his graduation in 1992. Chip also met his wife, Susan, in high school in 1991, he being a senior and her being a sophomore. They became engaged shortly after she finished high school and eventually married on August 8, 1998. Chip and Susan have two children, Cole (23) and Tori (21). Chip was employed as a salesman for Coca-Cola before he and Susan made the decision for Chip to stay at home with the children when they were young. He was an amazing husband, father, son and brother to his family and cared deeply for them. Chip was also an amazing friend who just seemed to know everyone. As he grew older, he continued to play slow-pitch men’s softball and began hunting, though over the past 20 years he had also developed a love for fishing, specifically bass fishing. This evolved into his involvement with several bass fishing tournaments around the Kansas City area, and culminated in him and a friend running a local bass fishing tournament at Longview Lake in south Kansas City. Chip leaves behind many friends and family members who are now grieving his loss. He was a kind and gentle soul who would always help a person or animal in need and was always ready to “fix” a problem one may have. He was also funny and could never turn down the opportunity for a good prank. Chip passed away peacefully on May 12, 2025 with his family by his side. He will be dearly missed by all of those who knew and loved him.

I’m glad to have had a friend in Chip and know his family. You guys have always been the nicest when we see you. This part of life is terrible. May God bless you through all of this
I was fortunate enough to cross paths with Chip when I first moved to KC through fishing. From the first conversation to the last, we always laughed and had a good time. I will forever be grateful for our friendship and will miss the conversations until we meet again. Save me some biggins on the big lake my friend.
What a wonderful neighbor. What a tremendously heartbreaking loss. His kindness and joy were evident in every interaction. My kids and grandkids recognized Chip and the Jarrett home as the neighborhood highlight of Trick or Treating. I believe this was largely due to Chip’s fun character and ability to make everyone feel special. He made life more fun for those around him. Susan, Cole and Tori, you are in our thoughts and prayers.
