Obituary

Christine (Chris) Wiley, age 75 of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away after a brief illness on August 25, 2022.

She was born on January 1, 1947 in rural Fairfield, Iowa, the 6th child of Kathryn and Roy Wichhart. On January 11, 1963 Chris married Robert Wiley and together they moved to Lee’s Summit in 1964.

Once their boys had started school, Chris began her career of 38 years at John Knox Village until retiring in 2015.

Chris loved any day that involved her family being together, including any visits she could arrange back ‘home’ to Keosauqua, Iowa. No matter who you were, Chris had a way to make you feel special, always knew the right thing to say, and was genuinely interested in hearing about your lives and your family. When Chris was not with the people she loved, she could be found shopping (once being asked if she was a Secret Shopper due to her frequent visits) or relaxing on her deck.

Chris will be missed by her sons and their families, Mike Wiley (Suzie), Steve Wiley (Maureen) and Mark Wiley (Julie), her six grandchildren, Tucker, Hayley, Ashley, Lauren, Cooper and Carson and her great grandson, Jenson.

She is survived by her two sisters who were also her best friends, Diane Bartholomew (Larry) and RoseMary Charbonneau (Ray); sister in law Patti Wiley, brother and sister in law Dannie and Alice Mairet, and numerous nieces and nephews.

She was preceded in death by her husband, her parents, her three brothers Gary, Don, and Tom Wichhart; brother in law Tom Wiley, and sister in law Nancy Wichhart.

Visitation will be held on Saturday, September 17th from 12-1 with a memorial service to follow at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd Street, Lee’s Summit, Missouri, 64063.

In lieu of flowers, the family is requesting donations be made to the American Cancer Society.

Wanted to send my condolences to all of Chris’s family. She was my manager @ John Knox from 1989 until her retirement in 2015. I remember the day she interviewed me for the job @ John Knox, right away I felt comfortable with her and she was a great manager, easy to talk with. Try to hold on to the great memories you had as a family and spend time with your loved ones, you never know when it is our time. I lost my Dad this past Christmas Eve and glad the time I got to spend with him.
God Bless,

I am so sorry to hear of Chris’ passing. I worked with her at JKV for so many years and we got to the point where we couldn’t sit next to each other in leadership meetings because we would eventually get tickled and laugh! Laughing in serious meetings was frowned upon! Chris was a mentor to me and I will always cherish her friendship! Hugs and love to her family! DeAnn

My heartfelt thoughts and prayers are with you and the family during this difficult time ❤️🙏🏻

Tom and I always enjoyed visiting her son and daughter-in-law, Mike and Suzie Wiley and their two wonderful sons. Often Chris and Bob would join in the activities be it sports, family cookouts or just a fun visit. They always made us feel like one big happy family. We will remember her laugh and love of family! Our deepest condolescences to her family and friends. Tom and Vicki Schuster

Chris Wiley was both loving and VERY well loved, as I learned from her son, Mike (my supervisor at The Whole Person), over the course of her illness. Mike, I am very sorry for the loss of your remarkable mother, who fought hard to stay with you and all her family for as long as possible. Your dedication to her throughout this difficult time was amazing! My sincere condolences to the entire Wiley clan.

So sorry for your loss. I worked at JKV with Chris. She was a great leader and staff enjoyed working for her. Great memories of her fun loving spirit. Your in my thoughts and prayers.

So sorry to hear of this. She was a very special person and I know loved by many. 🙏🙏
