Obituary

Christopher Edward Way, 60, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away on March 3rd, 2024 at his home. He was born on September 4th, 1963 in Mason City, Iowa to Bryan and Karen Way. Chris was a graduate of Raytown South High School in Raytown, Missouri. He and his then wife Linda settled in Lee’s Summit in 1991 where they raised their two daughters. During this time Chris worked as an electrician with Local Union IBEW 124. He worked on many commercial projects, but one of his favorites was hanging the Christmas lights at the Country Club Plaza in Kansas City, MO and Town Center Plaza in Leawood, KS. Chris later became an instructor at the Kansas City Electrical Joint Apprenticeship and Training Center where he taught for several years. Chris retired in 2022.

Chris had a deep passion for basketball and golf, both of which he loved to do in his free time. He proudly played for Coach Bud Lathrop at Raytown South. He then loved coaching his girls in basketball. They spent many hours in the driveway together practicing free throws and layups. He loved golfing at the Fred Arbanas Golf Course at Longview Lake and always looked forward to the next PGA tournament on television.

Chris was preceded in death by his mother Karen. He is survived by his daughters Jessica, of Raytown, Missouri, and Shannon, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri. He is also survived by his father Bryan (Kathy) of Las Vegas, Nevada, his sister Elizabeth Pettit (Chris) of Sherrills Ford, North Carolina, and many aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and friends.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, March 23rd from 1-3 pm at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests a memorial contribution made to Wayside Waifs of Kansas City, Missouri in Chris’s name.
