Obituary

To know him was to love him, and to love him was easy. Christopher William Fox, 75, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri died peacefully, surrounded by loved ones, on September 19, 2026.

Born on June 8, 1951, in Galesburg, Illinois to Thomas C and Emily Eloise Fox, Chris was the youngest of six children. He attended Catholic elementary and high school which began the formation of his firm and steadfast faith. After graduating from Costa High School in 1969, Chris joined the United States Air Force in 1971.

About that time, at a party with friends, Chris was approached by a vibrant young lady named Mindy. She asked him for a drink and the rest is history. The two were married on March 24, 1973, and Mindy quickly became the love of his life. The two celebrated 53 beautiful years of marriage together.

Right after they were married, Chris and Mindy moved to Moore, Oklahoma where he worked as a civil servant at Tinker Air Force Base before opening Golden Nugget Donuts. During that time, they began their family and Chris was deep in the throes of coaching football and baseball, perfecting stunts in the swimming pool, and being the best dad to their three kids.

Eventually Chris went to work for AT&T, which moved the family to Lee’s Summit, Missouri in 1992. He then retired from AT&T in 2003. However, Chris couldn’t stop there. He jumped into other careers such as Real Estate, working for ARO, and became a driver for OATS.

Chris was a pillar in his church community, teaching middle school religion class and passing on his knowledge and faith to countless others. He enjoyed the community and fellowship that brought.

Chris spent his time working hard, while also being a wonderful son, husband, father, and eventually “Bobot” (grandfather). He never missed a baseball game, choir concert, or airport pick-up. He was there at every graduation, family dinner, and anniversary trip. Chris was the calm, strong roots to a vibrant family tree. It’s easy to get lost in the shuffle, but he was always there with his wise words or his hilarious one-liners. He was our rock.

He will be greatly missed by his wife Mindy, children Christy Fox, Patrick Fox, and Alli Fox (Jesus Casanova Lopez), his grandchildren Christopher Teeter, Jake Fox, and Yatzen Casanova, his beloved family dog, Clancy; his brother, Tom Fox, sister Sue McCarthy, sister-in-law, Sandee Fox, Marilyn Fox, Vickie Lafferty (Claude), and brother-in-law Stan Laures. He is preceded in death by his parents, siblings, John Fox, Morrie Fox, Ginny Laures, and father and mother-in-law, Virgil and Virgina Robinson.

A visitation will be held on Tuesday, September 29, 2026, from 9:30 a.m. to 10:30 a.m. with a Funeral Mass at 10:30 a.m. and a lunch directly following at Holy Spirit Catholic Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. The Funeral Mass will be live steamed on Holy Spirit Catholic Church’s website. Inurnment with military honors will take place at 1:45 p.m. on September 29, 2026, at Mt. Olivet Catholic Cemetery in Raytown, Missouri.

In lieu of flowers, the family requests donations to St. Jude’s or Holy Spirit Catholic Church.

Chris was a great close friend in high school but distance and professions separated us for many years. I still cherish the memories and the situations we fortunately got in and out of. Great fun. I attended Chris and Mindy‘s wedding with several of our Costa classmates. My thoughts are with his family. Tim Sullivan

Mindy and family ,
We are so sorry to hear of Chris’ passing. He was always such a kind person, always ready to tell a story, but interested in whatever anyone else had to say.
Such a lovely obituary. He definitely filled life to the fullest
Again our thoughts and prayers are with your family

Dear Mindy,

You have our sympathy,
Bernadette & Steve Morford

Chris was born with roots in a family of love laughter and intelligence. He was a good boy and I am sure as a man. My condolences to his family and ask for God’s blessings to all. RIP my cousin.

Allí and family, sending you all amor. I met Chris once and I vividly remember his smile, he seemed like a man who lived life with lots of joy! Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

Chris was one of the most wonderful people I had ever met. He taught middle schoolers with patience and grace. He could silence a loud room full of teens with one whistle and provoke them to think outside the box. One of my favorite memories was when Chris was the sheriff in a “jail” and all of the teens took off their shoes and the room smelled awful. The bad joke that I always made is finally true… Mr Chris is an apostle now walking with Jesus.

I have had the pleasure of knowing the Fox family for almost 35 years. Chris was always laid back and quiet. While most married couples would occasionally argue I never saw anything but pure joy between Chris and Mindy.
He taught me how to do the two step, how he made his steaks so delicious (brown sugar and garlic salt) coached our girls softball together and all of weekends in the driveway with all the neighbors laughing together while the kids played tag in the dark.
You will truly be missed.
Debbie
