Obituary

Clark Kent Ward, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away July 28, 2023 at the age of 65.

Born in Springfield, Missouri, on February 10, 1958, Clark was the first of four sons blessed to be given to Darrell James (deceased) and Eloise (Smith) Ward. On September 8, 1979, he married the love of his life, Barbara (Conquest) Ward, at Lee’s Summit United Methodist Church. They remained devoted to each other ever since.

Clark graduated from Lee’s Summit High School in 1976, where he lettered in football, track, and baseball, among other accolades. He proudly worked as an American Family Insurance agent before becoming a Vice President of Sales for Venture Industrial Products and later Midwest Regional Sales Manager for Allegiant Manufacturing.

Clark’s dedication to his work was only outmatched by his dedication to his family. He was a proud and involved husband, father, son, brother, and uncle. In addition to coaching various sports teams, he was always available for a trip to the movie theater, mall, or video store.

Clark was a true Kansas Citian, a lover of all things Chiefs, Royals, and barbecue. He read every Tom Clancy novel published. Most evenings, he could be found enjoying television and movies with Barbara.

Along with his wife, Clark is survived by his three children Lea Ward (Alex Smith), Justin Ward (Carolynne Beck-Ward) and Joshua Ward; his mother Eloise (Smith) Ward; and his brothers Brian Ward (Tina Ward), Bruce Ward (Lori Ward), and Kirk Ward (Stephanie Ward). He is survived by many nieces, nephews, great-nieces, great-nephews and cousins.

Visitation will be held 1:00pm Saturday, August 5th, 2023 at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, followed by service at 2:30pm.

In lieu of flowers, expressions of sympathy may be made in the form of donations in Clark’s memory to Lee’s Summit Social Services.

I am so sorry to hear of Clark’s passing. Clark was a neighbor for many years and my classmate at Lee’s Summit Senior High School class of 1976.

Clark was a lovely, gentle man who was always right there for Barbara, Lea, Justin and Josh.
and being the eldest of four brothers he was a guiding light for his younger siblings as they were growing up.
He was our Nephew and we were privileged to know him and although we didn’t get to see him very often we will always treasure the times we were able to be with him.
We are so sorry and shocked to hear of his passing, may he rest in peace.

Clark was also my neighbor growing up. My thought’s and prayers go out to the family. I am so sorry for your loss.

Clark Ward, along with his brothers, “grew up” in the downtown Lees Summit United Methodist Church. He was in the youth group and choir. Faithfully, Clark and his family attended. He served as usher, greeter, communion steward; he encouraged others to serve. Clark loved the church; and the church members loved Clark.

So sorry to hear about my high school and college classmate. Great guy always with a smile on his face. You will be missed.

We will miss Clarks smile and company at dinners on Friday nights. Our prayers are with his family. Gods grace and comfort to all the family and to my friends Eloise, Sam and Jo Smith and Lea who we knew the best. We were invited to events with the Ward family on many occasions and were warmly welcomed by a very special family.

I was a business associate of Clark’s in the early 80’s when he was working with American Family Insurance. We both lived in Lee’s Summit and it was so evident how much Clark cared about others and his community. The words and thoughts shared honoring Clark are so appropriate. Clark will be greatly missed by so many. Deepest condolences to family and friends.

So sorry to hear of Clark’s passing. We worked together many years. He was one of the good guys. He will be greatly missed.

Sending my deepest condolences to Clark’s family. He had a gentle spirit, and was a devoted husband, father, and family man. I’ll truly miss our visits together. I am so sorry for this devastating loss.

Though I dealt with him mainly on the phone or through email he was always a joy to work with. He will be greatly missed.

Our heart goes out to Barbara and the rest of the Ward family upon Clarks passing. I have great memories of him at A & E Custom Mfg (now Allegiant MFG). He was a good man of character and a great employee. He was always considerate of people. He helped us grow as a company in so many ways. I will miss him.

My condolences to all of the family. I have enjoyed getting to know and work with Clark over the past 8 years. He was always very kind, generous, helpful a pleasure to work with and always had a smile on his face. He will truly be missed.

Until we meet again. Remembering when I took my cousins, the Ward cousins for ice cream at the local Dairy Cream. Miss you, RIP MY BELOVED COUSIN.♥️♥️
