Obituary

Cynthia (Cindy) Elaine Reed of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away March 1, 2021 in Kansas City, MO. She was born on September 23, 1955 to Gerald and Geraldine Gardner in Topeka, KS. A visitation will be held from 5pm – 8pm, at Langsford Funeral Home 115 SW 3rd St, Lee’s Summit MO, 64063.

The oldest of 4 children, she enjoyed spending time with her family and friends, listening to music (especially Elvis), and shopping at Very Violet. In 1976 she married Gary Reed and they made their home Lee’s Summit, MO.  Cindy loved being a stay-at-home mom to her 4 daughters, and was loved by many of their friends who also considered her “their mom,” because she was known for opening her home to everyone, being an outstanding listener and giving great advice.  She was outgoing, hilarious and sincere.  She could not have been prouder of her daughters, and was especially thrilled to become a grandmother for the first time in 2014. Cindy will be remembered for her kindness, her giving personality, quick wit, laugh, smile, and heart of gold.

She is preceded in death by; parents Gerald and Geraldine Gardner, and nephew; Joel Gardner.  Survivors include;  loving husband of 45 years Gary Reed; daughters Natalie Tatum (Brett), Jennifer Ward (Mark), Laura Kornis (Todd), Alison Reed (Brett); Stepdaughter; Amee (Keith) and grandchildren Harper & Alex Tatum, Jack Kornis, and Korey and Kortney Small.  As well as her 3 brothers, Kenny Gardner (Sue), David Gardner and Mark Gardner (Sherry) and her 14 nieces and nephews.

I am so sorry to hear of the death of Cindy. I knew her through HyVee and always waited to make sure I could go through her line. She was so friendly and gracious, and we loved talking about food, her daughters and husband and many other things. She made my HyVee day, and I will miss her greatly. May the Lord wrap you in His arms and comfort you, and may He give you peace in knowing so many people are praying for you.

Cindy, I will forever cherish our sisterly & loving friendship. What fun memories we made for us & our families. I want our close friendship to last another 47 years! My heart goes out to the Reed family. I so wish grieving wasn’t part of the healing process. Love you all

My condolences to the entire family. I pray God gives you strength, comfort and peace.

Cindy was special to us.
A very caring and loving person.
Always saying hi to us and asking about our family!! Prayers to her family!!!

Cindy was so special to so many, especially the teens who hung out at her house so much. Thank you for being the 2nd Mom to my son, Nick (Wehner). I know you’ll be keeping an eye on all who love you. May your family always know you’re never gone, just loving from a different place. Sit back and enjoy your wings! You earned them.

I was honored to have met and worked with the nicest person. CINDY WILL be missed

I can remember meeting Cindy when she was 17 years old! I had the privilege to know her for 48 years before God took her home! I was there for all 4 of her children’s birth! I know the family as well as anyone. Cindy was the best mother to her children and a good wife. Cindy also was the best sister her brothers could ask for! I will miss her deeply. The only happiness of this tragic news is that God gained an angel! I know Cindy will take care of us from the other side! All my love goes out to Gary, Natalie, Jennifer, Laura, Allison, Betty Reed, Kenny David an Mark! Fly high angel fly high!

Cynthia was such an amazing sweet lady to work with. I worked at HyVee with her and she was always do excited for me and checking on how school was, and the progress I was making!! Her service to others was outstanding. I wish I could tell her about my college experience now that I am at my new school! I love you, Cynthia!!! Much love and prayers to the family and friends!
