Daniel J Fossey

April 24, 1965 - August 7, 2021

Obituary

Daniel (Danny) J. Fossey, 56, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away on August 7th, 2021, from complications due to COVID-19 after a hard-fought battle at Lee’s Summit Medical Center.
Visitation will take place on Thursday, August 12th, from 6-8 pm at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rdSt., Lee’s Summit, MO 64063. Funeral services will be held on Friday, August 13th at 11 am. Burial will immediately follow at Floral Hills East Memorial Gardens, in Lee’s Summit, MO.
Danny was born in Houston, TX on April 24th, 1965, eventually moving to Grandview, MO in 1975. He was a 1983 graduate of Ruskin High School and attended Longview College. He married Elizabeth (nee Parker) on December 19th, 2009, in Chicago, IL, and they have been partners in crime ever since, enjoying vacations and time spent with family and friends. Danny worked at several local companies but spent the last 20 years working for Honeywell FM&T as a welder, inspector and weld technician over his career there and formed many friendships along the way.
Danny enjoyed any activity that got him outdoors, and especially enjoyed fishing, taking up fly fishing in recent years and pursuing the elusive Muskie on the annual fishing trip to northern Minnesota. Danny lived for his kids and could be found at all their school or sporting events, whether baseball, lacrosse, volleyball or flag football, and provided the occasional coaching tips on the way home. Competitive kickball games and wiffle ball tournaments were standard cul-de-sac activities when everyone was together for holidays or birthdays. Danny was known for his signature dance moves, his infectious smile, his love of Chevy trucks, and his sense of humor. Danny had a hard time sitting still for too long, and he could often be found working on projects around the house, in the yard, or on his 1989 Blazer or watching the Royals and the Chiefs.
Danny is preceded in death by his beloved dad Dave Fossey.
Danny is survived by his wife Elizabeth; his children Dayton Fossey, Ambyr Fossey (Kyle), Devyn Fossey and Aiden Fossey; his sister Debbie Fitzwater (Eddie); his mom Judy (nee Rogers) Fossey; and several adoring nieces, nephews, aunts and uncles, and lifelong friends.
The family would like to extend our sincere thanks to the incredible staff at Lee’s Summit Medical Center for their support and compassion while Danny was in their care. Several were angels disguised as nurses, doctors, respiratory therapists and staff

Elizabeth I am so very sorry for your loss. My heart is aching for you and I will keep you and your family in my prayers.

What a genuine person, who will be so deeply missed. My deepest sympathies to family and all that loved and appreciated him.

So sorry for your loss, I won’t be able to attend the visitation but wanted to let you know I was thinking of you and the rest of your family and will keep you in my prayers.

Danny was such a kind soul who had an impact on so many people. I was a barista at his favorite coffee shop and saw him daily. I’m in tears as I write this. Think about it: to be so dearly loved that even the local coffee shop mourns…clearly he was a very special person.

My heart goes out to Elizabeth, Aiden, and all of the Fossey family.

He was an absolute light to this world. Always spreading kindness at church, with his friends and especially in the carribou drive through❤️

Elizabeth – I’m so sorry for your loss. Danny will be greatly missed and things will never quite be the same. So grateful for his many years working at Honeywell and his contributions to our mission. You and your family are in our prayers.

Elizabeth,

My heart broke when I heard the news. Praying God’s peace be wrapped around you and your children during this time. Danny is now in a very long reception line to see family members from generation to generation. He will now be able to talk with David about what it was like being a King, and Moses about parting the Red Sea. He is in no pain and rejoicing with the Heavenly Host. Life goes by in a flash when we compare it to eternity. Just know there are hundreds of people who love and care for you and your children, who are holding you all up in prayer during this time.

Take care,
-David Spieker

Elizabeth and family,

Whenever I think of Danny I always grin! He was so good to me as I was one of the older guys in the CMM lab. He was a good reason to enjoy work. He actually helped talk me into getting the truck I’m driving. He knew I wanted it. That’s Danny.

I worked with Danny years ago. Every time I would see him he always said hello and had a smile. I know he will be deeply missed.

Elizabeth,
I thought of Danny the other day. I made some zucchini bread using Wayne the welder’s recipe and thought about when Danny and I worked in the same department. Danny always insisted on saving the heel of the zucchini bread for him. Nobody else liked the heel but Danny loved it. Danny’s passing is a great loss for everyone. My condolences are with you.

Elizabeth, we are truly sorry at the loss of Danny. I met him during an audit and could immediately see his welding skill, his confidence – and especially his sense of humor. To the family of Danny; I just learned of his passing & wanted to let you know I am thinking of you all. Danny & I used to sing together ….not in choir or anything, but in class together. (I’m sure it was appreciated by our classmates & teachers). We had a lot of fun. I just played “Cheeseburger in Paradise” & sang as loud as I could hoping he could hear me. I just wanted to let you know he is still part of so many peoples lives & history-even decades later. My sincere condolences to you all.

Elizabeth –
I just heard of the passing of your husband. Please know that you have my deepest condolences and sympathy. I can’t imagine what you have been through. Eventhough we have been out of touch, I am just a phone call away if I can help or you just need to talk. In my traditions it is said, “May your husband’s memory become a blessing.” I truly hope it will, over time.
– Howard
