Obituary
David Allen DePooter of Lee’s Summit, MO was born in Davenport, Iowa on September 29, 1947 and passed away on August 10, 2023. He is survived by his sister-in-law and brother-in-law, Judy and Dennis McKee, nephews Jon (Monica) Brockman and Aaron Brockman of Kansas City and five grand nephews and nieces. He is also survived by his nephew Stephen (Delores) DePooter of Davenport, Iowa and three nieces.
After his graduation from Lee’s Summit High School, Dave joined the Army and did a tour of duty during the Vietnam War. He was the recipient of numerous medals from his service. When he returned to Kansas City, he became employed by Southwestern Bell as a lineman and later became an IT manager. Dave’s dentist introduced him to his dental assistant, Alice Jaylene Bush and they were married October 4, 1975. They were married 48 years until her death on March 16th of this year.
Dave was a lover of dogs and he and Jaylene had numerous pets over their lives. His beloved Golden Retriever, Dolly, is living out the rest of her days with family. He also enjoyed working in the yard and being on his computer. He and friend Vince (Pennie) DePalermo attended numerous gun shows over the years. Our family wishes to give appreciation to Dave and Jaylene’s neighbors and friends for their caring concern during their illnesses.
A Celebration of Life will be held for both Jaylene and David at Langsford Funeral Home from 1:00 pm – 3:00 pm on Saturday, August 19th.
In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Alzheimer’s Association at https://www.als.org.

We were sad to hear of David’s passing. Having had Alzheimer’s for several years it was difficult to see him decline. He did love his Goldens! We have missed both he and Jaylene as neighbors.
