Deborah Lynne Oldroyd was born in Spencer, Iowa, June 12, 1950. She was married to Curt Oldroyd for 47 years.

Debbie was a Speech and Language Pathologist. She graduated from Northwest Missouri State University and did her Graduate work at James Madison University. She taught in many places in the US and in Germany.

While teaching in Germany she met her husband, Curt, an Army pilot. It was love at first sight for both of them. Debbie and Curt lived in many places during their careers before they both retired and built their home at Lake Winnebago, MO.

Her favorite thing to do was travel and Debbie and Curt visited 6 of the 7 continents with Africa being her favorite. Debbie’s smile would light up any room. She had many close and wonderful friends, especially her bowling team, The 4 Chicks.

She is survived by her siblings Cheri (Goyette) Christenson, Pamela (Goyette) (and Dave) Ebel, Randy (and Mary) Goyette, Greg (and Vicki) Goyette, Stepson Gary (and Jennifer) Oldroyd, Step Grandsons Lincoln and Griffin Oldroyd, numerous nieces, nephews and cousins and her beloved Bernedoodle, Kelce.

I will miss my sister in law more than I can say…she was always a sounding board and true friend. She fought a valiant battle and now she can rest in peace.

Beautiful Curt. You did a fine job about a wonderful lady. I will miss her so very very much. My heart goes out to you and your family. She’s in God’s arm now and free from pain and misery.

She definitely will be missed by so many. Her love for life and travel was certainly fulfilled. I will so miss her weekly calls and think of her often. Sympathies to you Curt, her much loved partner!

The picture you selected is so perfect; it captures her smile which I will miss. Your words did tribute to her Curt

Curt and family, Judy and I extend our deepest sympathies. Debbie was a wonderful person and friend. She had a wonderful sense of humor and an infectious smile. She will be missed.

Deb was the oldest of 5 – our beloved big sister. She was the glue that held our family together, and the consumate “event planner” for our family gatherings – usually rotated among siblings st Christmas, and in the summer at Lake Okoboji, which she considered home. Every year the 3 sisters took turns planning a week long trip – sometimes overseas, sometimes stateside. There were times we laughed so much our cheeks ached. We will miss Deb so much, her sense of humor, her creativity, her loyalty to those she loved, her intelligence and compassion. She was a wonderful wife, sister and daughter. Every Friday morning promptly at 9:15 Deb called her sisters for a conference call to catch up on the week’s events. We always ended our phone calls by saying, “Love you”. For the last time Deb, “Love you”.
And thanks for being such a good big sister.

Over the years we have shared so many good times together, both in the USA and in Germany. Debbie was a lady with so many talents. As Curt said in his beautiful tribute, she could light up a room, with her smile and her laughter. Somehow in all our travels we have managed to stay in touch.. She will be missed and Curt our prayers are with you. There was never a doubt how much you loved each other.
God Bless . 🙏🙏🙏

My heartfelt condolences to you Curt. I’ll always cherish the memories of visiting KC — Debbie was always ready to show us around and made every visit special. She was the best host and her warm spirit made everyone feel at home.
