Obituary
Diane Lee Torrence (Wright) (1958 – 2025)
Diane, beloved Mother, Fiancé, Sister, Aunt and Grammy passed away peacefully on January 4, 2025 at age 66. She was born in Kansas City, MO December 26, 1958, to her loving and supportive parents Mel and Betty Wright of Lee’s Summit. Diane went to Lee’s Summit schools and graduated from Lee’s Summit High School, class of 1977.
Diane’s family was her whole world, to include her soul mate, Randy Clark. She met him while working at Dollar General in Harrisonville and they shared many great memories together as well as their beloved fur babies – Cooper, Bella and Prince. They were engaged to be married and had plans to travel around the US, especially to be closer to the coast where she enjoyed listening to the waves by the beach and visiting with her children and grandchildren in North Carolina.
Diane started her family early and dedicated many years to raising her 3 wonderful children who meant everything to her. Her children have many fond memories of their childhood and Diane always did what she could to help them even as they became adults and started their own families. She leaves a big hole in their lives, and they will miss her dearly.
Diane loved being able to stay home in the early years to raise her children and then went on to work in retail which she enjoyed. She was always a very hard worker, working her way up to store management through her dedication and work ethic. She shared how she loved the relationships she built with her co-workers as well as local customers she began to know well. She would often spend time with her co-workers, who became friends, in her free time. When she was unfortunately no longer able to work, she really missed all those times.
Diane found so much joy in becoming a Grammy. She always said that was the best title she ever had because she could love them and spend time with them without all the hard parts of parenting. Her pride and joy were watching Allie, Riley, Mason and Eli growing and becoming who they are.
Diane will be remembered as a loving mother, grammy and caring person. We will always remember her telling us not to sweat the small stuff and to cherish every moment with our children and loved ones. Although she is no longer in pain and struggling with diabetes and illness, her family will miss her tremendously. Her memory will certainly live on in the hearts of all who knew and loved her.
Diane was preceded in death by her parents, Mel and Betty Wright and her brother David Wright. She is survived by her children Joshua (Carrie) of Belton, MO, Daniel (Cindy) of Holly Ridge, NC and Sarah (Josh) of Raleigh, NC, her beloved fiancé Randy Clark of Harrisonville, MO, her sister Denise Porter of Lee’s Summit, MO and her grandchildren Allie Casey, Riley Torrence, Mason Miller and Eli Miller. Also left to mourn her loss are nieces, Michelle Armstrong (Norm), Kristina McMillan (McCoy) as well as her friends.
A celebration of her life will be planned for the Spring of 2025, her favorite season. Details will be shared once available.
