Obituary
Donna Faye Horne, age 90, went home to be with Jesus on Thursday, October 2, 2025, in Olathe, Kansas.
Born in Independence, Missouri, to Frank and Mary Payne, Donna was the youngest of eight children. She graduated from William Chrisman High School in 1953. At the age of 17, she gave her life to Jesus Christ at New Salem Baptist Church, where she later married the love of her life, Roger Horne. Together, they shared 62 wonderful years of marriage and were blessed with 12 children—9 pregnancies and 3 sets of twins.
For more than 25 years, Donna faithfully served alongside her husband, Roger in children’s ministry at Grandview Assembly of God (now New Vision). Her love for Jesus shone through everything she did. Donna found great joy in reading her Bible, discovering treasures at garage sales, and enjoying a good Caramel Frappe from McDonald’s.
Donna was a proud and faithful contributor to her family’s financial stability. Whether through ironing, doing laundry, caring for other people’s children, housecleaning, or part-time work at Montgomery Ward, she gladly did whatever was needed to support her home. At one point, she had five little ones in cloth diapers—long before Pampers, which she couldn’t have afforded anyway. Through it all, she continued cooking, cleaning, and doing laundry for her large and loving family.
Along with her parents and seven siblings, she was preceded in death by her beloved husband, Roger Horne, Sr., granddaughter Kelsey Horne, and grandson Kale Clark-Fortsch,.
Donna is survived by her 12 children: Diana Abbott; Robin Roberts (Mike); Roger Horne Jr. (Cheryl); Dereen Fortsch (Matt); Randy Horne (Netta); Dennis Horne (Kim); Richard Horne (Connie); Debi Horne (Val); Doug Horne (Robin); Russell Horne (Kerry); Robert Horne (Lauri); and Roxanne Lowe (Steve).
She was a proud matriarch to 63 grandchildren, 79 great-grandchildren, and 19 great-great-grandchildren—each deeply loved.
Donna’s family meant the world to her. Her faith in Jesus and love for her family leave a lasting legacy in all who knew her.
A memorial service celebrating Donna’s life will be held on Friday, October 10, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. at Summit Park Church 425 SW Oldham Pkwy, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64081.

What an honor it is to have known Donna. I enjoyed being with her in the women’s Bible study at LSF. She was one of the sweetest, kindest woman I have ever known. ‘Love and blessings to all of her family.
