Obituary

Edith Marie (Huffman) Viets, 87, Lee’s Summit, MO, died peacefully at the Kansas City Hospice House on February 20, 2018, following a brief illness. Funeral services will be at 11:00 Friday, February 23, 2018, at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd Street, Lee’s Summit, MO. Friends may call 10:00-11:00, prior to the service. Memorial contributions may be made to Kansas City Hospice House, 12000 Wornall Road, Kansas City, MO 64145, or to the Cystic Fibrosis Foundation, in honor of Caitlyn Viets, 6950 Squibb Road, #310, Mission, KS 66202.

Mrs. Viets was born February 17, 1931, in Polk County, Iowa, to Mabel and Marion Huffman. The family relocated to Omaha, NE, where she later met her husband, Otto, who was serving in the United States Air Force and stationed at Offutt Air Force Base. After their military years, they made their permanent home in Lee’s Summit. She retired from AT&T after many years of employment. She was a member of St. Matthew Lutheran Church. She was preceded in death by her infant son, David, her parents, her brother, Richard, and her beloved husband. She is survived by daughters, Jeni Ryan, Lee’s Summit, MO, Cathy Hilke and husband, Paul,
of Holden, MO, son, Otto L. Viets III and wife Dawn, of Greenwood, MO, three grandchildren, Chris Ryan, Mackenzie and Caitlyn Viets, one great granddaughter, Marlee Ryan, and other in-laws, nieces, nephews, and friends too numerous to mention.
