Born: May 15, 1933 Lancaster County in the township of East Earl to Eli and Lena.
Passed away: January 7, 2021 Lee’s Summit Mo at the age of 87 years, 8 months.
Married Addison H. Martin on May 23, 1954 in Lancaster, PA
Born to this marriage are 4 children: Earl Eugene “Gene” Martin (Kim), Gladys “Bess” Briscoe (Jim), Glenda “George” Martin, Addison “Junior” Martin, Jr. (Shannon), 8 grandchildren, 15 great-grandchildren, numerous nieces and nephews. Liz and Addy also welcomed their “fresh air child” Diana Mercado (Tony) of New York City, into the family in the late ‘60’s.
Liz was the oldest of 4 children. She Is survived by her sister, Nora, brother Weaver, her children, grandchildren and 14 great grand-children. Preceded in death by her parents, brother Jim, great-granddaughter Brionna and beloved husband Addy. Growing up in the family dairy farm near Denver in Lancaster Co, PA., she proudly completed the 8th grade (with all “A’s” and “B’s”) as was the custom throughout the Mennonite Community.
The family moved to Lee’s Summit, MO in 1974 eventually starting Mar Enterprises – a general contracting and building business.
Liz enjoyed working with her church community of First Baptist Church, Lee’s Summit, MO. She was very active in Lee’s Summit Social Services for may years. Other volunteer work included the American Red Cross. She was quite proud of the assistance she was able to give to the people of New York during the 9-11 crisis
In lieu of flowers, contributions may be made to Lee’s Summit Social Services.
Liz will be dearly missed by so many in the community and those that loved her and Addy. The Martin family faithfully served the community for over 40 years, giving their hearts and hands to make everyone better.
We are all grateful for their contributions and commitment to Lee’s Summit. Rest in peace, sweet and loving friend.
