Obituary

 

 

Elmer L. Doane Jr. went to be with the Lord on May 4th after a courageous battle with Alzheimer’s. He leaves his wife of 60 years, Sharon (Kunzweiler) Doane. He also leaves his three sons; Kenneth (Cheri), Keith (Karen), and Eric (Julie) Doane. He will be missed by his ten grandchildren, five great-grandchildren and many other relatives and friends.

Elmer was born to Elmer L. Sr. and Evalena Doane on August 22, 1937. Elmer graduated in 1956 from East High School in Kansas City, MO. He served in the Army from 1956-1959. During that time Elmer came back home to marry the love of his life, Sharon on June 12, 1958.

Elmer retired after 30 years from General Motors Leeds Plant in Kansas City, MO. He then worked for Enterprise Rental Car for twelve years.

Elmer enjoyed fishing, woodworking, fixing up his 1948 Chevy Sedan and spending time with his family, including all the activities they were involved in.

Visitation will be held Thursday, May 9th, 6:00-8:00pm and funeral on Friday, May 10th at 10:00am, both at Langsford Funeral Home, 115 SW 3rd St., Lee’s Summit, MO. Graveside Service immediately following at Floral Hills Cemetery, 7000 Blue Ridge Blvd, Kansas City, MO 64133. The family suggests donations to the Alzheimer’s Association or Crossroads Hospice in lieu of flowers.
