Obituary
Elsie L (Meyer) Gann, 94, of Lee’s Summit, MO passed away peacefully September 13, 2025 in Lee’s Summit, MO. She was born on December 7, 1930, in Rockville, MO the daughter of Joseph Meyer and Helen L Meyer. Her parents immigrated from Germany in 1925 with 2 brothers Carl and Joseph. She and one other brother, Robert, were born here in the United States. She was extremely proud of her German heritage and visited Germany to meet many of her relatives. Through the years she kept in touch with her German relatives and never forgot her heritage by passing on many recipes and memories.
She graduated from Adrian High School, Class of 1948. Elsie married her high-school sweetheart, Gene O. Gann, August 6, 1950 in Rockville, MO. He was the love of her life and they celebrated 45 beautiful years together. They enjoyed playing cards, fishing, traveling, loving their grandchildren and life in general.
First and foremost, Elsie was an amazing wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, and friend to so many wonderful people. She had a smile that would light up the room and loved to joke with family and friends and live life the best she knew how, by always giving her all in anything she attempted.
She was an avid bowler for 30 years until earlier this year. Even with poor eyesight, she bowled on a team who welcomed her even with her handicap. When asked how she bowled that day, she would always say “Well, I threw the ball!” This past year she bowled a 200 game and was very proud of that!
When her children were young, she was a proud Red Cross Volunteer and was compassionate with everyone no matter who they were. When people were sick, or needed help in any way, it was important to her to be there for them. She volunteered at Truman Medical Center and Lee’s Summit Medical Center and worked in the hospital gift shop several years. She worked for the IRS and retired from there to enjoy life with her husband, Gene.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her spouse, Gene O. Gann; parents Joseph and Helen Meyer; brothers Carl Meyer, Joseph Meyer and Robert Meyer; Daughter-in-law Brenda (Mundt) Gann; Granddaughter Heather L. Bledsoe; Great Grandson Kaden A Adams.
Survivors include a son, Michael G. Gann and his partner Lyn Cheek of Lee’s Summit, MO; daughter, Patricia L. (Gann) Emery and her husband, Gerald of Peculiar, MO and son, Jeffrey A.
Gann and his wife, Jonie of Greenwood, MO; 9 Grandchildren, and 18 Great-Grandchildren all whom she loved dearly.
Visitation will be Friday September 19, 2025, from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m., with funeral services to follow at 11:00 a.m. at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO. Interment will be at Floral Hills East Cemetery following service.

Elsie was such a special lady. We have been lifelong friends. She used to push me on my swing when we both lived at Rockville which was a very long time ago. I am so glad we were able to stay in touch thru the years. She always had a happy attitude and a smile on here face. I know she loved her family dearly. May she rest in peace.
Betsy and I send sincere condolences to the whole family. Aunt Elsie was a joy to talk with and always so positive in spite of the challenges of the last couple of years. We’ll be thinking of her often, especially when we’re rooting for her KC Chiefs.
She said she was “ready to go” when she got the cancer diagnosis and I’m sure she was certain that she was going to a better place.
Love,
Dennis
Elsie was one of the first friends I made when coming to Raintree Village in May. She was a sweet and smiling presence here, admired for her spunk and her zest for making the most of each day. I admired her and enjoyed her company; we spent many pleasant visits on her patio reminiscing about experiences we had in common: office work in downtown Kansas City—streetcar rides; shopping at Macy’s and Emery, Bird, Thayer; lunch at The Forum or at Woolworth’s long counter.
Elsie was generous in spirit, kind and thoughtful. She spoke lovingly of her family and was pleased to introduce me to her son Mike. My condolences to Elsie’s lovely family. Though I only knew her a few months, she blessed my life and I miss her.
All my love to Mrs. Gann’s family. What a beautiful tribute to her. I’ve known her most of my life and treasured her kindness and love. Prayers will continue for the family.
Love,
Duretta
Auntie Elsie was the sweetest person I know and my phone calls with her always ended in laughter and an “I love you!”
Great memories, and love to cousins Mike, Jeff and Pat.

Aunt Elsie came to visit us in Maine many years ago and it was so special. She was so intetested in our family, kind and sweet natured. I am sad she passed away as she is the last of that generation for both Dan and me . She will always be remembered as a loving relative who we wish we could have seen more often.
Great lady and great loss, my heart goes out to you! We lived around the corner when I was little and Patti was the best first babysitter we could ever have had. Years later when I started working as a pharmacist at LSH, there was Elsie in the hallway! And she stopped by to see me every day she was there. We talked about family, bowling, family, friends, family, gardening… She was so proud of and loved all of you so much! She’ll be in your hearts and my heart forever. Caren (the middle Pearson girl)
I was saddened to hear of the passing of Elsie. She was a friend of my mother’s, Maxine Rush. I enjoyed her phone calls when mom was ill. We exchanged Christmas cards and when one was returned, I assumed she moved. I lost touch with her for a while, and searched for her unsuccessfully. Only to find out the postal services were to blame. I found a news article about bowling, but didn’t suppose it was her. Boy, was I surprised! We only reconnected with the help of a young lady that worked at her residence. I spoke to her and found out she was still bowling, and had only recently moved. Wasted years! Again, I’m sorry for your loss.
