In Memory of

Evelyn Mae Reavis

June 20, 1927 - June 16, 2026

Obituary

Evelyn Mae Reavis, 98, went to be with her Lord and Savior on June 16, 2026. She was born in Kansas City, MO to Rev. Oris and Eva Vernon Holloway.

As a 16 year old Evelyn began her employment years at the Jones Store Company, KCMO, doing inventory.  It was there that she saved her paychecks and purchased a set of china for her parents.

Evelyn met her future husband, Ewell Reavis, when she went to visit her grandparents in Lanton, MO. They married on August 2, 1944 in Kansas City, KS and moved to Dyersburg, TN where Ewell was stationed while serving in the Army Air Corp during World War II. After Ewell’s discharge from military service they moved to the Kansas City, MO area where they were lifelong residents.

They were blessed with a daughter, Joyce Reavis Tennyson and were married for 66 years.  Evelyn and Ewell enjoyed each other’s companionship so much that if you saw one of them you soon would see the other.

Evelyn worked at Avon Products for 33 years until the closure of its KCMO office. Evelyn developed many lasting friendships at Avon. After her retirement, she helped coordinate and decorate Avon’s yearly retiree picnics and Christmas Celebrations for decades.

Evelyn and Ewell ministered to the sick and grieving with visits and words of encouragement. As a member of Calvary Assembly of God Church for over 50 years she volunteered in numerous areas of service, as a greeter, alongside Ewell, and she continued to fill that role long after his death.  With other church members she used her gifts of loving on people, decorating for church socials and preparing food for church events and meals for funerals. In her later years she began attending The Rock LS Church.

With their friends and traveling buddies, Evelyn and Ewell annually attended Gospel Music Concerts in Arkansas and multiple locations, enjoying gospel music, shopping with the ladies, numerous meals and much laughter enjoyed by all.  Evelyn was the last of this group of loyal friends to join them and her beloved husband in their Heavenly Home. Evelyn was always ready to share her love for Jesus. When she moved from her home you could see a worn path in the carpet where she would walk and pray for her family, friends and prayer requests throughout the day.

Evelyn was predeceased by her husband, Ewell, her parents Reverend Oris and Eva Holloway, her brother, Oris Dean Holloway (Mary) and numerous extended family members.

Evelyn is survived by her daughter Joyce Reavis Tennyson (Tobe III), Grandson’s Tobe Tennyson IV (Chris), Brian Tennyson (Karen), Great-Grandchildren Chandler Tennyson (Lydia), Sara Tennyson, Dawson Cochran and her extended family.

We rejoice in knowing that Evelyn is now with Jesus.

A visitation will be held on Saturday, June 27, 2026, from 10:00 a.m. to 11:00 a.m. with a service at 11:00 a.m. at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.

Interment will follow at Floral Hills in Raytown, Missouri.

In Lieu of flowers, family requests that donations be made in Evelyn’s honor to Calvary Assembly of God (9300 Elm Ave., Kansas City, Missouri 64138) or to The Rock LS Church (1700 SW Market St., Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64082)

Evelyn was a wonderful person, who always had a smile for her neighbors on Homestead Dr. I once told her, she was my role model because she always looked so nice when going to church or visiting friends. Prayers for her family, as Heaven has welcomed another angel.
