Obituary

Florence (Sherrie) Louise Dunlap, born October 9, 1932, passed away March 12, 2022. She was preceded in death by her son, Charles Kevin Dunlap and her parents, Cecelia and William Schere. She is survived by her husband Dr. Charles L. Dunlap and daughters Shara M. Dunlap and Kimberlie D. Dunlap.

During Florence’s early years, her greatest joys in life was being secretary to Hank Stram of the Kansas City Chiefs organization. She was also a dance instructor at Arthur Murrays Dance Studio. She loved crocheting beautiful afghans and scarves for her friends and loved ones. Florence and Charles always had a great love for helping animals and people in need.

She met her husband, of almost 57 years, in a local bowling league. Her family then became her priority. She was a very watchful, energetic, fun mother and wife.

In her midlife she developed heath issues that became chronic to include depression that became a daily battle. She had unwavering loyalty, hands on support and love from her husband to the end.

Florence is laid to rest at Lee’s Summit Cemetery. Memorial donations can be made to Lee’s Summit Animal Control, 1991 SE Hamblen Rd, Lee’s Summit, MO 64082.

Thank you to all who loved and cared for our mother all these years. May her soul rest in peace.

Florence (Sherrie) was a great hugger. Although she could not see me well she always greeted me with a hug. I hope she greets me in heaven with the same hug.
May we all be greeted again by Sherries hugs in Heaven

DR. CHARLES DUNLAP WAS A PATHOLOGIST FAR AHEAD OF MODERN MEDICINE. HE WAS FAR AHEAD OF THE CARE HE HAD FOR HIS WIFE AND MY FRIEND MRS. FLORENCE DUNLAP. MRS. DUNLAP WAS A FRIEND WHO SPOKE OF HER PAST LIVED IN THE PRESENT BUT HAD HUMILITY FOR THE FUTURE. SHE LOVED OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST. SHE WAS MY FRIEND BEFORE WE EVER SAW EACH OTHER IN PERSON FOR MANY YEARS! SHE REMAINED MY FRIEND UNTIL THE END. I AM MOST GRACIOUS TO HAVE KNOWN MRS. DUNLAP, (SHERRIE) (FLO). I AM MOST HONORED TO HAVE WORKED WITH AND FOR DR. CHARLES DUNLAP. MUCH THANKS TO DR. SHARA DUNLAP FOR ALL OF HER TIME AND CARE FOR BOTH OF HER PARENTS WHO WERE EXCEPTIONALLY AND ENORMOUSLY PROUD OF HER CAREER FOLLOWING HER FATHERS’ FOOTSTEPS AND WITH EMPATHY FOR PEOPLE FOLLOWIG HER MOTHERS’ FOOTSTEPS. I SHALL MISS MY FRIEND YESTERDAY, TODAY AND TOMMORROW. I LOVE YOU MRS. DUNLAP AND YOU ARE RESTING IN PEACE WITH OUR LORD JESUS CHRIST!
