Obituary

Frances Jean “Jeanne” Williams, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri passed away peacefully on the morning of December 28, 2024. She was 89.

Jeanne was born in Jackson County, Missouri on October 21, 1935 to James Leslie and Della (Cameron) Hicks, and was the youngest of six siblings.  She married Robert “Willie” Williams on November 23, 1955 at Richards-Gebauer Air Force Base in Grandview, Missouri.  While Willie was in the United States Air Force, they and their three young daughters lived on USAF bases in Arkansas, Missouri, Illinois and Indiana. They were married for 57 years at the time of his passing in 2013.

As a young child, she made a profession of faith to trust Jesus Christ as her savior while attending Little Blue Baptist Church where her mom faithfully took her every Sunday.  When the family moved to Lee’s Summit, she began attending the First Baptist Church of Lee’s Summit.  Later, she and Willie would go on to attend Lee’s Summit Bible Church, where she is currently a member.

Jeanne grew up a lover of animals, having a pet cow, many puppies and a pet rooster.  Later in life, Jeanne and Willie fell in love with pugs and spoiled Walter, Jack and Jill.  She also adored her grandchildren and great-grandchildren.  She spent many Friday nights watching Royals baseball games with her grandson Jeremy.

She is preceded in death by her parents; her three brothers and two sisters; and her beloved husband Willie.  She is survived by her three loving daughters Terri (Steve) Wynne of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Debbie (Jim) Crossley of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; and Jonie (Jeff) Gann of Greenwood, Missouri; seven grandchildren, Aaron (Jessica) Crossley of Independence, Missouri; Angie (Dustin) Cooper of Holden, Missouri; Zach (Brittney) Wynne of Bayfield, Colorado; Josh (Heather) Wynne of Durango, Colorado; Jeremy Wynne of Lee’s Summit, Missouri; Valerie (Jesse) Cowden of Burlington Junction, Missouri; Jeff (Emily) Gann of Madisonville, Louisiana; as well as eleven great-grandchildren Corban, Isabelle, Coleman, Charlie, Ellie, Maddie, Jax, Addilynn, Rhett, Ainsley and Nathan.

A visitation in honor of Jeanne will be held on Saturday, January 4, 2025 from 9:30 am to 10:30 am at Lee’s Summit Bible Church, 1200 NE Colbern Road, Lee’s Summit. Funeral service will begin at 10:30 am. Jeanne will be laid to rest next to her husband at Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers, the family suggests donations be made to Developing Potential, Inc., 251 NW Executive Way, Suite 200, Lee’s Summit, Missouri 64063 in honor of Jeanne’s grandson Jeremy Wynne.  Developing Potential, Inc. provides quality day habilitation services to adults with developmental disabilities and support those individuals to reach their potential and achieve a dignified, adult lifestyle.

I am so very sorry for the loss of your Mom. She was like a Mom to me and I enjoyed speaking with her and your Dad. She was such a lovely lady with a big heart.

Sorry for your loss. I never met her, but I enjoy some of the same things she did (i.e. animals). She sounds like she was a wonderful person.

Many memories and fun to think about. May God be with you in this time of sorrow and comfort for the grief of your loss.
