Obituary
It is with heavy and agonizing hearts that we say goodbye to Frances Marie Cobb-Holzer, cherished wife of Leon Holzer and mother of Christian Holzer. Frances passed away unexpectedly on April 1, 2025, during her second battle with cancer. Frances was a gentle and kind woman who showed grace, respect, and love to all. She had a desire to help people, which led her to a career in health care, where she worked as a nurse and operating room manager for 25 years before retiring in February of 2025. Frances enjoyed the simplicities of life: the smell of a great meal, feeling the paper and binding of a new book, singing harmonies with her family, or simply taking a boat ride to name a few. We remember her as role model, a confidant, a friend, and most importantly as someone we can all aspire to emulate. We will forever miss you, Frances.
Frances is survived by her husband Leon Holzer, brothers Robert “Bob,” (Vicki), John, and James “Jim,” (Georgiana) Cobb, her two stepchildren, Angela Mooy and Jonathan Holzer, her son Christian Holzer, nieces and nephews Jennifer and Steve Weidner, Christopher Cobb, Tina Gold, Cynthia Willhoite, Bill and Karen Cobb, Patrick Cobb, Jim and Roqhelle Cobb, Bree Cobb and Kenny Bailey, Myla and Donnell Hughes, Drea Cobb and Lisbet Rodriguez, sister-in-law Teresa Cobb, and two grandchildren, Logan and William Mooy. She is preceded in death by her parents, Robert and Agnes Cobb, stepmother, Gloria Cobb, and brothers Sam (Theresa), Clifford, Joseph, and Daniel (Mary).
A celebration of Frances’s life will be held Saturday, April 12, 2025, at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Visitation will begin at 10 AM followed by a prayer of the Rosary at 10:45, and service beginning at 11 AM. A private luncheon will be held for immediate family after service at the Gamber Community Center before the burial of Frances’s ashes at Cobb Cemetery, near Odessa, Missouri.

You were my best friend in our younger years, my maid of honor at my wedding. You were the sister I never had but always wished for. You shared so much love and fun with me to include your incredible family who became my own
Life and time took us down different paths, but you were always there surprising me when I needed it the most
I will always love you and cherish those amazing moments.
I love you Frances
ALWAYS!
Thank you for being there for me all those times
My love and comfort to Leon, Christian and your brothers
You have to kindest soul I,ever experienced.
I loved you then as I will for the rest of mine
Sleep well fly with the angels
Love you

I worked with Frances for almost 10 years: she was an outstanding manager and kept the OR humming. She was a problem-solver and knew how to fix my greatest challenges. She cared about everyone around her: not just the patients, but the surgeons, nursing staff and learners. We all respected her greatly and I will miss working with her.
My condolences,
Gary Sutkin MD
Francis was my nurse manager while I worked as an RN at UHTMC’s surgery department. We had such a great rapport. She was so supportive of me both professionally and at times, in some tumultuous life challenges, on a deeply personal level. I’m 36, and sadly my parents have been gone for some time now. In their absence, I have been so lucky and blessed to receive the warmth of maternal love from many extraordinary and inspiring women throughout my life. Francis is one of them, and an exceptional one as well. I think it’s very telling that a woman who was a part of my life for only 3 years, really, is remembered so fondly and had a profound impact on my life. I’m so saddened to hear this news. It would take days, multiple pages of writing, and several drafts to write about all the good things I think of Francis and how graceful I am for the love she showed me and the influence she left. This note will have to do for now.
Thanks Francis.
Frances was such a special and delightful woman. She left us much too soon. Blessings to her family. Namaste.
Hello,
I was the Director of Surgery at Lakewood. I worked with Frances for the last 4 1/2 years before recently relocating to Texas a month after Frances retired from University Health. I always appreciated how kind Frances was to me! I was saddened to hear of her passing! She will be missed!
My condolences to your family,
Mike Love
