Hazel “Speedy” M. Krzywicki

November 18, 1923 - April 9, 2026

Obituary

Hazel “Speedy” M. Krzywicki, 102, passed away April 9, 2026 in Warrensburg, Missouri.

Hazel was born in Lone Jack, Missouri on November 18, 1923. She was the last remaining member of the George Washington and Effie May (Bynum) Cary Family.

She worked at Pratt and Whitney Engine Plant during World War II, making radial engines for aircraft. During the 1950s she worked at the Montgomery Ward Distribution Center in historic Northeast Kansas City, Missouri, where she used roller skates to pick products for catalog deliveries. She was fast, so came the nickname Speedy. In the early 1960s the Western electric Plant opened in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. She worked there until retirement in 1987.

During retirement Hazel spent time going on multiple trips and spending numerous weekends at her cabin at Lake of The Ozarks. Bowling became a treasured pastime over the years.

Hazel was a people person. She adored babies and children. She attributed her long life to God, green tea and cookies.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Joe Krzywicki; parents George and Effie Cary; brothers, Leonard Cary and Robert Cary; sisters, Cecil Shippy, Opal Arrington, Georgia Goodwin; nephew, Kenneth Cary; and niece, Carolyn Temple.

She is survived by her great-nephews, Greg (Becky) Cary of Holden, Missouri and Doug (Missy) Temple of Little Rock, Arkansas; great-nieces, Sylvia Bailey of Independence, Missouri and Cara Steely of Little Rock, Arkansas; the ones she talked about all the time, her 10 great-great-nieces and nephews and 9 great-great-great nieces and nephews; and her many many friends.

She will be greatly missed.

A visitation will be held on Sunday, April 19, 2026, from 1:00 p.m. to 3:00 p.m. with a service at 3:00 p.m. at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, Missouri. Interment will follow at Lone Jack Cemetery in Lone Jack, Missouri.

My sincere condolences to Hazel‘s family and close friends. She was a Jewel! One of the sweetest ladies I have ever met. I got to see her every Tuesday for just a little bit when I delivered One Good Meal to her. When she had to go into skilled nursing, it broke my heart that I wasn’t going by there every day.
Heaven has certainly gained another beautiful soul.

I’ll always remember Aunt Hazel, “speedy”. As kids, we had such wonderful memories at her home eating tacos and spending weekends at the Lake house. Her trips with my Mom and Aunts when they came to Maui were so much fun! She was the life of the party. Now she’s with all of them in Heaven.
Aunt Speedy, I’m so thankful for you, for our conversations, and all your love for my family children, and grandchildren.
