Obituary
Helen “Marie” Hutson (Ligeko), 89, died December 20, 2025 at Princeton Senior Living. She was born November 10, 1936 in Kansas City, Missouri. The daughter of Leonard and Helen (Czech) Ligeko. Marie graduated from Glennon High School in 1954. She was a loving mother, wife, grandmother & sister. Marie was married for nearly 60 years until her husband Richard Hutson’s death in 2017. She was a dedicated worker for the IRS for over 30 years. She also enjoyed gardening & antiquing. Marie attended St. Catherine’s church until its closing and then went on to attend services at the V.A.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her grandmother Anna Czech, her husband Richard Hutson and her sister Virginia Deveney. Survivors of Marie include her son Rick Hutson and wife Kim, grandsons Nick and Zach, daughter Cheri Hutson, sisters Didi Ligeko and Patty Basham.
A graveside service will be held at Mount Olivet Cemetery at 7601 Blue Ridge Boulevard, Raytown, MO 64138 at a later date. Donations may be made to Wayside Waifs waysidewaifs.org or the V.A. in Kansas City, MO www.cdceportal.va.gov/donate_online in Marie Hutson’s memory.
I miss my beloved sister, Marie. We spent many times shopping, eating out and antiquing. When I was a little girl, Marie was my babysitter when my parents went on errands. I remember sitting with her on the large porch swing at the family home enjoying the day. The old neighborhood was fun and Marie would take me for walks. She also put my hair in ponytails many times to keep it out of my eyes. I know Marie is enjoying heaven with her husband, Richard. Love you, Didi
