Obituary
Herbert Douglass Scroggs, known as Doug, Dad and Grandpa G-Force, passed away on June 9, 2026 at the age of 90.
Doug was born on June 1, 1936, in Warrensburg, Missouri, to John Herbert Scroggs and Mary Gene (Faulkner) Scroggs. While attending Paseo High School in Kansas City, Missouri, he met the love of his life, Marilyn Larie Wright. A proud alumnus and lifelong Jayhawk, he earned a degree in Electrical Engineering from the University of Kansas and went on to spend 40 years with Honeywell in Kansas City as an Electrical Engineer and managing an Engineering Department.
Doug and Marilyn shared 72 years together and celebrated 69 years of marriage. Together they built a life centered on family and memorable experiences. They especially enjoyed spending time at the cabin they built in Estes Park, Colorado, where many cherished family memories were made. Doug and Marilyn’s greatest accomplishment was the family they built together.
He is survived by his wife, Marilyn Larie Scroggs; his daughter, Julie Noonan (Dave) of Peculiar, Missouri; his son, Steven Scroggs (Judy) of Wesley Chapel, Florida; his grandchildren, Melissa Kelley-Jones (Eric Jones) and Nick Noonan (Kelly); his great-grandchildren, Grace Kelley, Collin Kelley, Andrew Noonan and Ben Noonan; as well as many cherished step-grandchildren, step-great-grandchildren, nieces, nephews and extended family members.
He was preceded in death by his parents, John Herbert and Mary Gene Scroggs; his brother, Joe Scroggs; and his grandson, Jason Paul Noonan Kurtz.
A graveside service will be held at 1:00 pm on Saturday, June 20, 2026 at Park Lawn Cemetery.
