Obituary

Jackie “Jack” Elwood King, 76, of Lee’s Summit, MO, passed away on August 27, 2024.

Jack was born on 1/2/1948 to Henry and Onetta King in Paola, Kansas. After Jack graduated from Osawatomie High School in 1966, he enlisted in the U.S. Army. He spent 2 years as a Combat Engineer in Mannheim, Germany.

In 1998, Jack met Jane King at American Bandstand. Jack and Jane blended their families with their 6 kids, Troy Ganong, Mike King, Kyle King, Tyler King, Brent King, and the only daughter Brooke King.

In 2009 Jack retired from USD #230 (Spring Hill, KS) as a custodian/grounds keeper and spent his time volunteering. Jack was a member of the American Legions Riders, Chapter 21, Reno Riders, and KC Spyder Riders. He was also an active member at the Road Church in Grain Valley. He also spent as much time with his kids and grandkids. Jack loved anything sports related to his beloved Kansas City.

Jack was Predeceased by Henry and Onetta King and Troy Ganong. He is survived by Jane King, Kay Ross, Rexann Chester, Radie Spratt, Tammy Mitchell, Bill King, Mike King, Kyle King, Tyler King, Brent King, Brooke King and an Army of grandkids and great grandkids.

Services will be held at Langsford Funeral Home in Lee’s Summit, MO on September 6th, 2024 from 2pm-4pm.

In Lieu of flowers, the family request donations be made to the American Legion Tirey J. Ford Chapter 21, at 16701 E US HWY 40 Independence, MO 64055.
