James Cassell Winburn age 89, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, passed away, Friday August 1st, 2025, at St Luke’s East Hospital.
He was born December 20th, 1935, to James A Winburn and Katherine Cassell Winburn in Kansas City, Mo.

He also loved hunting, fishing, and was an avid antique collector of duck calls, knives, Mack trucks, and much more. He always wanted to find the best deal at garage sales, auctions, estate sales, and flea markets, etc.

Jim is survived by and leaves a legacy of love by his son Kevin Winburn, daughter Jimma Winburn-Johnson, granddaughter Cherokee Johnson, sister-in-law Rita Winburn, nephews Shane Winburn, and Cody Winburn (Nancy Winburn), great nephew Gavin Winburn, and great niece Hannah Winburn all of Lee’s Summit, MO.

Jim was very interestimg to tall to. I loved hearing his stories. Winburn is a historic Lee’s Summit name. God Bless
Jim and MaryKay were our beloved neighbors for 21 years! Our children grew up together..They were so kind and willing to help in any way. Jim taught my daughter how to carve a pumpkin and they win a 61Country pumpkin contest! Jim always had a smile on his face abd was quite a tease. We loved them both very much!
Loved the days going to swap meets, carving big pumpkins, and going downstairs at their house to see him working on things he loved to do.
Thinking about your family. Love you
Sit in church with Mary, Jim and family for years and so enjoyed their company-all are greatly missed there.
I was thinking about Jim the other day and also Mary. Such great people and so kind. They both helped with my sale in the country and we had some good laughs over some of the things there. When I moved from Prairie Lee Lake, Jim bought the Longview Farm Coffee Griinder and several of their milk bottles that Ron had gotten at the Lonview Farm dispersal sale. I was thrilled that they went to someone who would love them. I had to get one milk bottle back from him because someone else had said they had already spoken for one. He always ribbed me about being a take-back artist.
My deepest sympathy to all of the family. He loved all of you so much.
Our family is sending you all lots of love. Lynn remembers going to an antique show with Jim, MaryKay, and Bob in Oklahoma. They all enjoyed the show and eating out. Collett remembers seeing the carved pumpkins that Jim created. Lance remembers looking at all of Jim’s treasures in the garage. Bob enjoyed his friendship with Jim. Jim was a wonderful person and will be missed.
Love,
Lynn, Collett, & Lance
I loved the days when we heard Jim play the banjo outside. We would all come out and listen to him on hot sum nights. I will also never forget that Pumkin carving van that he won and those pumpkins! They were the largest and most creative pumpkins I have ever seen. Great memories on Mulberry Street as a kid.
Sad to see those from Mulberry St passing on. Wonderful memories interacting w Kevin and Jimma. I too remember the huge pumpkins Jim would grow and carve. I also remember staring at the sign by the doorbell forbiding anyone from using it during the day since Jim worked nights. Mary would let you know you screwed up if you rang that doorbell. Jim was a gentle man and just one of many on Mulberry St that helped shape my life and provide wonderful memories.
