Janet A. Staten, 77, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, ascended to heaven on June 14, 2024. Born on March 23, 1947, in Kansas City, Missouri. She married her soulmate, Terry D. Staten, on June 29, 1991. Janet is survived by her loving husband and three children: Rebecca Smith, Jeffrey Revels, and Stacie Wilson (Stephen Wilson). She cherished her four grandchildren, Ashlee Johnson (Brett Johnson), David Smith, James Revels, and Jayden Wilson, along with her two great-grandchildren, Kynslee Lister and Brantlee Smith. Janet’s family also includes her two brothers, Curtis (Rita) Applegate and Bill Applegate, and her sister, Carol (Bob) Hartford.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Willard and Maurine Applegate; her sister, Aletha (Dan) Miller; and her granddaughter, Kylee Wilson.

Janet dedicated 16 years as a librarian at Clemson University before retiring from Unity School after 32 years. She was deeply passionate about her family, especially her grandchildren, and enjoyed being part of her car club. A true sports enthusiast, Janet was an avid supporter of the Chiefs and Clemson sports teams. Her vibrant spirit will be missed by all who knew her.
