Obituary

Janet Lucile (Shelton) Carrigan, 91, of Lee’s Summit, Missouri, born 10/19/1927 in Hartford, Connecticut, deceased 7/7/2019 at St. Luke’s East Hospital. Janet was preceded in death by her parents Carolyn (Klinefelter) Shelton and Elbert Shelton, and her sister Lois Catherine Shelton.

Janet is survived by sons James Lawrence Carrigan and Bruce Shelton Carrigan, and daughter Cheryl Catherine (Carrigan) Schifferdecker (husband, Kevin Schifferdecker); grandchildren Lance Shelton Carrigan, Travis Cameron Carrigan, and Kyra Nicole (McNeal) Borgman (husband Chris Borgman); and a great granddaughter Bella Cielo Carrigan.

Janet was married for 41 years to Rev. Robert Lawrence Carrigan who taught at St. Paul School of Theology, deceased in 1983 of  leukemia. The couple enjoyed working with champion foxtrotters, training and showing in the Mo. Foxtrotter’s Association.

Janet was an active member of the First Baptist Church of KCMO and helped with Habitat for Humanity and other projects.

Burial will take place in Wakeman, Ohio. The family appreciates flowers and donations to the Alzheimer’s Association.
