Obituary
Jerry Sorter, a lifelong resident of Forgan, OK, is now tilling the fields of Heaven. He is survived by his wife Donell; children Mary, Eddie (wife Angela), Charlie and Ricky (wife Rebecca); brother Larry (wife Chalice); 27 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren; nieces, nephews, and numerous extended family members. Jerry was preceded in death by his parents Frank and Florence Sorter, son Ronnie, sister Joanne and brother Terry.
Jerry always worked on the farm, harvest crews and in the oil fields. If you knew Jerry, chances are you had a nickname. Many acquired their nicknames on harvest. Who can ever forget the infamous Moose and Rhino. The grandkids loved riding on the combine with Grandpa Jerry during harvest
The smell of diesel, cut wheat, a layer of dust, and cigarettes bring back strong memories of Jerry and harvest. While the work was hard, there was also always laughter. Then there were words and other things we learned when we were not laughing!
Jerry’s grandkids have fond memories of his can crusher in his back yard. All of the kids have fond memories of running around on the farm.
Memorial Service will be on September 29, 2025 @ 1:30 p.m. at the Forgan Cemetery. Immediately preceding, at 11:30 am, the family will meet for a meal and to meet friends and well-wishers.
Sorter family I’m sorry for your loss. My heart is full knowing he’s laughing with Ron and everyone right now.
