Obituary
It is with a mixture of joy and sorrow that we announce the passing of Joan Loree Vance, age 94, of Raymore, Missouri, who went to be with her Savior on April 22, 2025. She was born February 1, 1931 to Allen and Loree Sargent in Falls City, Nebraska. Joan attended Baker University where she earned a Bachelor’s Degree in English. Following her graduation, she taught English and Theatre at Falls City High School.
Soon after, she met her lifelong partner, Warren Vance, and they celebrated 57 years of marriage until his passing in 2012. Joan is survived by their 4 children: Mike Vance and his wife Jamie of Denver, Colorado; Lisa Williams and her husband Dennis of Rogers, Arkansas; Rob Vance and his wife Alicia of Louisburg, Kansas; and Tricia Gage and her husband Johnny of Belton, MO; along with 15 grandchildren, 10 great grandchildren and a very special niece Anne (Lane) Smith.
Before Joans health started declining, she loved being an active member of Abundant Life church of Lee’s Summit. Church activities and the many friends she gained over the years kept busy. It surprised no one when she’d mention she was meeting somebody for lunch, especially if it was at Cracker Barrel! Her hospitality will never be forgotten as she loved to host parties of any sort. And her parties always had plenty of coffee to go around. Joan was a wonderful and giving Grandma, DoDo, and Noni to her grandkids and she will be dearly missed.
Joan’s funeral will be held on April 30, 2025 at Abundant Life Church in Lee’s Summit, Missouri.
Visitation is at 10am with the Funeral immediately following at 11:30.

Joan’s life glorified the Lord and brought joy to everyone. I was blessed to grow up with the Vances as neighbors. Walking into the Vance house, knowing the 700 Club would be on the television and Joan singing gospel music, is a memory I will forever hold dear. Joan’s devotion has served as a guide in my life. Her kindness and smile will never be forgotten. Thank you, Joan.
Joan was a great neighbor and host to us many times growing up. She was always candid and kind, willing to help and in a fun way. She will be greatly missed.
