Obituary
It is with profound sadness and loving remembrance that we announce the passing of Joanie Ann Jackson, a beloved mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, family matriarch, and friend.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Lee Jackson and Sadie Bell Jones, and Richard James Hitch, Sr.
She was a loving mother to Patricia Ann Hitch, Richard James Hitch Jr., Arthur Lee Hitch, Jerry James Hitch (Melissa Hitch), and Melissa Ann Hitch. Through every season of life, she provided encouragement, wisdom, comfort, and unwavering support. Her children knew her as a source of strength, guidance, and unconditional love.
While she deeply loved her children, nothing brought Joanie greater happiness than being surrounded by her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She was the proud grandmother of 21 grandchildren and the cherished great-grandmother of 30 great-grandchildren. Her home, heart, and arms were always open to them. She celebrated their accomplishments, comforted them through challenges, and treasured every visit, conversation, laugh, and hug. Each grandchild and great-grandchild held a special place in her heart, and her love for them was one of the defining joys of her life.
Joanie will be remembered for her warm spirit, gentle heart, resilience, and the way she made others feel loved and welcomed. She had a gift for bringing family together and creating lasting memories that will continue to be cherished for generations.
Though her presence will be deeply missed, her love, wisdom, and legacy will continue to live on in the hearts of those she leaves behind. The family finds comfort in knowing that the bonds she created and the love she shared will endure for generations to come.
Forever loved, forever remembered, and forever in our hearts.

Ma, Is what you wanted me to call you and no other way. Losing a friend who felt like a mother is a profound, specific kind of grief. It’s a deep, lasting ache to lose the woman who loved and welcomed you as one of her own. They say friends are the family we choose. Those long conversations on the phones I’ll miss.” You will be truly missed and I love you so much 💖 Thank you for being my girls grandmother.
