Obituary

JOHN TIMOTHY HENSLEY

Tim Hensley, 72, died unexpectedly at home in Lee’s Summit on August 26, 2024. He was born September 27, 1951 in Kansas City, Missouri, the son of John D. Hensley and Kathryn M. (Taylor) Hensley.

Tim graduated from Ruskin High School in 1971. He worked at several banks until landing a job at the DOD as a Cartographer Technician. He later moved to a private company called Nova Blue. He had a love for maps. He would be sure to jokingly point out if they mentioned the wrong coordinates in a movie or book.

Another passion of his was sports, especially bowling. As he always used to say “The only way you can get better is to practice.” When he wasn’t bowling 300’s, he was cheering on the Colts. He enjoyed the details of the rules and challenges on the field. Whenever you received a text during a game, it was always about the official’s latest call.

Surviving members of his family are his sisters, Ann Habel (Larry), of Phoenix, AZ and Donna Turrell (John Walsh), of Lee’s Summit, MO; brother Mark Hensley (Marla) of Raytown, MO; along with many nieces and nephews.

A private graveside blessing will be held on September 16, 2024 at Lee’s Summit Historical Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held at One Spirit United Methodist Church at 7900 Blue Ridge Blvd on September 16, 2024 from 6-8 pm. This will be a casual gathering to remember Tim’s life.

In lieu of flowers, please feel free to donate to the American Heart Association or One Spirit United Methodist Church.

I did not know John, but I do know Ann! I believe she played on my moms Softball team. Sorry for your families loss.
